LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Following the launch of Lamina1 – the first layer 1 blockchain purpose built for the open Metaverse – the company has appointed former EA and Google veteran Jamil Moledina as the first Vice President of Games Partnerships & Media.
“Neal’s vision of the Metaverse has been with me since Snow Crash was seared into my brain, and it’s thrilling to be working with him and Peter to help bring it to life,” said Moledina. “The game dev community has a natural advantage in making the Metaverse wondrous and fun – and now we’re at a moment when we can also make it worthwhile for everyone.”
Neal Stephenson coined the term “Metaverse” in his groundbreaking novel Snow Crash, presenting a fully realized vision of a virtual world. The concept inspired a generation of technologists, including crypto pioneer Peter Vessenes. Vessenes saw the opportunity for blockchain to empower creators in an Open Metaverse, and founded Lamina1 with Stephenson to deliver on that goal. To strengthen the partnership with the gaming community, the team is leaning into Moledina’s background in supporting the developer community. He brought them into games portfolios for new platforms, signed them on to enjoy the resources of a leading game publisher, and put them on the world stage at the Game Developers Conference.
“Lamina1 is intended to be the best place to build the Open Metaverse,” said Vessenes. “Much of what we need to do is build a diverse community of creators – technical, artistic, business. Jamil’s experience, character and the broad respect he’s earned in his career made him a very high priority recruit – we were lucky to have him sign on with the team, and I can’t wait to see what he does for those who want to build out the Open Metaverse!”
