LOUISVILLE, Ky.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Bamboo Health™, formerly Appriss Health and PatientPing, a healthcare technology solutions company focused on fostering care collaboration and providing information and actionable insights across the entire continuum of care today announced its expanded partnership with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy to offer Prescription Monitoring Program (PMP) integration within Iowa providers’ electronic health record (EHR) and pharmacy management systems. The statewide integration program launched on June 15.
Providers and dispensers across the state will now be able to access PMP data directly within clinical workflows through Bamboo Health’s PMP Gateway solution. The solution allows PMP data to be seamlessly woven into EHRs, pharmacy management systems, and health information exchanges. The State of Iowa will continue to create safer prescribing patterns through the use of PMP Gateway, which saves prescribers and dispensers time to focus on patient care. In partnership with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, Bamboo Health was able to launch the statewide PMP Gateway solution within two-and-a-half weeks, quickly integrating important data directly into providers’ electronic health records.
"PMP integration into electronic health records and pharmacy dispensing systems is a critical component to increase the efficiency of information access at the point of patient care. We are looking forward to the benefits provided to Iowa patients and providers from this initiative,” said Andrew Funk, Pharm.D., CPM, executive director of the Iowa Board of Pharmacy.
Currently, there are more than 38,000 prescribers and dispensers across the State of Iowa who access the PMP through Bamboo Health’s PMP AWARxE solution. Through Bamboo Health and the Iowa Board of Pharmacy’s partnership, users will now be able to integrate the data into clinicians’ workflows through the PMP Gateway solution. The enhancement will be funded through a Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Overdose Data to Action (OD2A) grant.
“We’re excited to expand our partnership with the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, allowing the state’s prescribers and dispensers real-time access to PMP data at the point of care,” said Rob Cohen, chief executive officer of Bamboo Health. “The time saved through direct integration allows providers to focus on what matters most: the patient and their care plan.”
Currently, Bamboo Health powers 44 of the nation’s 54 PMPs (also known as prescription drug monitoring programs or PDMPs) in states and territories. Over the last year, controlled substance insights were delivered in more than 100-million patient encounters per month directly into electronic health records and pharmacy management systems through Bamboo Health solutions.
