ATLANTA--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Caddo Sustainable Timberlands, LP (CST) has purchased 119,000 acres of timberland in east Texas and western Louisiana, further expanding the existing CST platform, now comprising more than 889,000 acres across the two states. With this acquisition, CST - the largest private timberland owner in Texas - now holds 831,000 acres in the Lone Star State.
Consisting of 58,000 acres located in western Louisiana and 61,000 acres in east Texas, the new properties benefit from access to strong and expanding timber and real estate markets, productive and operable soils, and a plantation age class distribution capable of generating consistent returns. Additionally, the properties are located in one of the most ecologically diverse regions of the country, providing exposure to a wide range of conservation opportunities.
CST’s investment mandate is to generate strong risk-adjusted returns for investors while ensuring ecological integrity and sustainability. CST will manage and certify the properties in accordance with the Sustainable Forestry Initiative standard.
John Lock, President of CST, said: “Caddo Sustainable Timberlands is very excited to add these high quality, well-managed timberlands to our portfolio, which allows us to grow our already substantial footprint in east Texas and extends our ownership into Louisiana. This acquisition cements our position as the largest private timberland owner in Texas, which is pretty exceptional considering the rich history of land ownership in the state. We will implement the same responsible, sustainable forest management practices that our business is founded upon and look forward to continued collaboration with industry stakeholders throughout east Texas and Louisiana.”
