DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zimperium, the only mobile security platform purpose-built for enterprise environments, today announced the appointment of former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and Liberty Strategic Capital’s Senior Managing Director, Joseph Dunford, to its board of directors. With four decades of global operations and risk management experience, and a distinguished career as a national security leader, General Dunford brings invaluable knowledge and understanding to Zimperium’s board that will help guide the company to further solidify its position as a worldwide leader in mobile security.
General Dunford served as the 19th chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, the nation’s highest-ranking military officer, and the principal military adviser to the president, secretary of defense, and the National Security Council, from October 2015 until his retirement in September 2019. Prior to becoming Chairman, he served as the 36th Commandant of the Marine Corps. Among many other roles, he also served as the Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps from 2010 to 2012 and was Commander, International Security Assistance Force, and United States Forces-Afghanistan from February 2013 to August 2014.
“With General Dunford’s background and knowledge, he adds extremely unique value and insight to an already distinguished board of directors that is guiding our company through its next phase of hyper-growth,” said Shridhar Mittal, CEO, Zimperium. “We’ve been fortunate to assemble an impressive roster of cybersecurity, risk management, and operations professionals that have seen the promise in what Zimperium is doing. At a time when mobile security is becoming a priority for all organizations, having this team to help guide key business decisions is great for our company, but more importantly for the mobile security of organizations worldwide.”
Dunford adds to the world-class leadership on the Zimperium board, which also includes former U.S. Treasury Secretary and Liberty Strategic Capital founder, Steven Mnuchin, former Treasury general counsel Brian Callanan, Phil Shevrin representing SoftBank Corp of Japan, and Zimperium CEO, Shridhar Mittal. The additions of General Dunford, Secretary Mnuchin, and Mr. Callanan to Zimperium’s board come on the heels of the company’s acquisition by Liberty Strategic Capital.
“With today’s interconnectivity and the rise of remote work, securing mobile endpoints and applications needs to be a concern at the highest level of all organizations,” said General Dunford. “The world has gone mobile and all organizations, from government bodies to private companies, need to act now to ensure the endpoints and apps their people use are secured and protected. The solutions Zimperium offers are unlike any other and I’m eager to work alongside its talented team to reach more organizations and help improve mobile security on a global scale.”
In the world of bring-your-own-device (BYOD) and remote work, the mobile device attack surface is continuously growing and becoming a massive cybersecurity threat to all organizations. As Zimperium’s 2022 Global Mobile Threat Report states, there’s been a 466% increase in exploited, zero-day vulnerabilities used in active attacks against mobile endpoints. As the global leader in mobile endpoint and app security, Zimperium offers real-time, on-device protection against both known and unknown threats. Zimperium’s patented and award-winning z9 machine learning-based engine protects mobile endpoints and apps from device, network, phishing, and application attacks. In addition, with innovation derived from its threat intelligence team, zLabs, Zimperium stays ahead of the ever-changing cybersecurity landscape and frequently publishes comprehensive research and analysis on the current state of mobile security.
