SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--OpenComp, a leading compensation intelligence provider, today announced it has appointed veteran philanthropic advisor Emily Sweet to the role of vice president of social impact. With the creation of this new role, OpenComp formalizes its commitment to build a social enterprise keen on solving complex inequalities in the workplace. Sweet will structure and drive a robust strategy to affect transformational change across the company, its customers, the startup community and beyond.
Research shows that hitting revenue goals is no longer the only metric of success for organizations today. As investors increasingly tie funding to ESG performance, and a majority of consumers demand that businesses take action on social issues, businesses are taking action to affect societal change.
“Nancy Connery and I recognized our opportunity to end bias and inequity through data-driven action when we founded OpenComp,” said Thanh Nguyen, CEO and co-founder, OpenComp. “We saw firsthand as early employees at Salesforce that social responsibility must be built into an organization’s fabric from day one to enact systemic change, so we instill the same purpose and impact into our own company. Bringing Emily on board fully integrates our vision across the company and community. We are thrilled to have a leader with decades of experience in galvanizing social change to ensure we achieve measurable outcomes.”
Sweet is a philanthropic leader and policy advisor with more than 20 years of experience driving social change for society's most pressing and urgent challenges. Prior to OpenComp, Sweet held executive positions at the Lefkofsky Family Foundation, the Jewish United Fund of Metropolitan Chicago, the Jewish Women’s Foundation of Chicago and eight years in the Mayor’s Office on Domestic Violence at the City of Chicago. She was a 2013 Leadership Greater Chicago Fellow and past recipient of the Jewish Federation of Chicago’s Samuel A. Goldsmith Award.
Sweet joined OpenComp in 2021 as an executive-in-residence and founding advisory board member of OPEN Imperative, a coalition of hundreds of founders, CEOs and investors from the world's fastest-growing companies. The group is committed to ending gender pay disparity by 2027 via data-driven action.
“Salesforce was founded with philanthropy baked into its core, and Salesforce Foundation strives to inspire other organizations to put their time, resources and money toward serving their communities,” said Rob Acker, CEO of Salesforce.org. “We are excited to see OpenComp prioritize social impact at an early stage and hope their example will influence others to take action. We look forward to supporting Emily as she spearheads OpenComp’s ambitious goals.”
OpenComp’s social impact efforts primarily focus on three key areas: internal company integration, product integration and community action. Starting with gender pay equity, Sweet will incorporate best practices and policies throughout the employee experience, support product expansion to address customer diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives and expand the reach of OPEN Imperative throughout the startup community and more.
“I am thrilled to work with a team of purpose-driven leaders who are committed to tackling deeply entrenched problems like pay inequity,” said Sweet. “OpenComp is demonstrating that startups can make an impact early and scale best practices as they grow. I am honored to help bring this vision to fruition and rally our peers to drive societal change.”
