BATON ROUGE, La.--()--Plexos Group, L.L.C. (Plexos), a Baton Rouge-based infrastructure program delivery and project management company, announced today that Dennis González, P.E. has joined the company as Vice President of Strategic Initiatives. As former Puerto Rico Department of Housing (PRDOH) Deputy Secretary for Recovery, González brings 18 years of program design, policy, compliance, and engineering experience that directly complements the company’s ongoing large-scale infrastructure and disaster recovery program management work on the island.

González will provide key knowledge and insight to help Puerto Rico improve its civil and social infrastructure with projects funded by the $1.2T Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). He will also support Plexos’ ongoing program and construction management work for PRDOH’s $1.29B City Revitalization Program and its $2.18B Repair, Reconstruction, and Recovery (R3) Program.

“Dennis González joining Plexos is a major win for our team and communities across Puerto Rico,” said Plexos President and CEO David Odom. “Together, our combination of experience and resources in Puerto Rico will ensure we reach underserved residents, mitigate the impacts of future disasters, and build resilient infrastructure solutions for future generations.”

After the devastation of Hurricane Maria, González helped Puerto Rico repair more than 100,000 homes using $1.3B in Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Sheltering and Temporary Essential Power (STEP) program funding. He also designed, managed, and implemented a $20.2B Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery (CDBG-DR) program—the largest disaster recovery program in HUD and U.S. history.

Among his career accomplishments, González has managed a 54,000 public housing portfolio that encompassed over $1B in construction projects. His wide-ranging construction management experience also includes an additional $1.5 billion in projects for hospitality, commercial, high-end residential and multifamily housing, and sports centers.

“After working with Dennis in Puerto Rico for many years, I know he brings tremendous energy, creativity, and knowledge to our management of major infrastructure and construction projects,” commented Plexos Chief Operating Officer Bob Roberts. “We are proud that someone with his experience and track record has chosen to join our team as we continue to grow.”

Before he joined Plexos, González served as a director at an emergency management consulting firm where he managed a $200M+ FEMA Public Assistance Program for more than 900 churches and diocesan facilities of the Puerto Rico Catholic Church.

“I am excited to be joining a team so strongly committed to the communities and infrastructure of Puerto Rico,” said González. “Their ability to manage large-scale programs efficiently and on-time is key to revitalizing and rebuilding resilient communities.”
