VALLEJO, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May the 4th Be With You as Visit Vallejo will once again host their Annual Tourism Luncheon & Board of Directors Installation on Wednesday, May 4th at the Mare Island Brewery Coal Sheds at 850 Nimitz Ave. on Mare Island. After a two-year hiatus due to the pandemic, this will be the 29th event and acts as the kick-off to the summer vacation season.
Celebrating National Tourism Week, this luncheon is held at the beginning of travel season to remind Vallejo and other area communities about the economic benefits of the travel and tourism industry and to install the non-profit organization’s new officers and directors.
Visit Vallejo’s special guest speaker at this year’s event is Barbara Newton, President and CEO for the California Travel Association.
“We are thrilled and honored to have Barb as our keynote speaker for this year’s luncheon,” said Mike Browne, President & CEO of Visit Vallejo. “California Travel Association (CalTravel) is the influential, unified voice of the travel and tourism industry in California, and Barb’s a leading voice in protecting and advancing the interests of travel and tourism through advocacy, collaboration, and education.”
At their April 26th meeting, the Vallejo City Council issued a proclamation designating May as Tourism month in Vallejo. The rest of the nation will be marking the occasion as well during National Tourism Week, May 1-7, 2022.
Browne added, “More travel means more jobs (Tourism is Vallejo’s #2 industry) and needed revenues for a healthier Vallejo.”
Among the sponsors for this year’s Tourism Luncheon are the Southern Land Company, Recology Vallejo, the Regency Inn, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, and The Times-Herald. The event begins at 11:00 a.m. with a reception followed by lunch and the keynote address.
