WHAT: Fresh from her prestigious New York Choreographic Institute invitation, Sacramento Ballet’s company member and dancemaker Julia Feldman is a featured choreographer this month presenting her first main-stage composition, Hearts. It is one of three stellar, ultra-challenging dance-works presented in Catalyst (April 14-16): an exhilarating showcase of two world premieres and a Balanchine classic.

“Sacramento Ballet is incredibly proud of Julia Feldman’s success and we are happy to showcase her cutting-edge talents in Catalyst this month,” said Artistic/Executive Director Anthony Krutzkamp. “Her work is a double-world-premiere alongside a much anticipated creation by choreographic innovator, Jennifer Archibald. We then bring our audience full circle with a legendary George Balanchine classic. We titled this show Catalyst because every piece is a challenge to our dancers — who are at their athletic season peak — to bring their absolute best to the stage.”

Bridging neo-classical & contemporary ballet forms, Hearts is Julia Feldman’s exciting main stage choreographic debut following her honor having created on New York City Ballet as part of the New York Choreographic Institute.

Contemporary movement is featured in the premiere of Soar by acclaimed Cincinnati Ballet resident choreographer & former Alvin Ailey Choreographic Fellow, Jennifer Archibald.

George Balanchine’s iconic Allegro Brillante pushes classicism to its limits. He described it as containing everything he knew about classical ballet presented in 13 minutes!
