Courts and Corrections Agencies Ramp Up Use of AB Kiosk Automated Systems
DUI offenders in ten South Dakota counties now pay daily visits to an automated AB Kiosk for their breathalyzer tests
MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Minneapolis-based Precision Kiosk Technologies (PKT) today announced that it is expanding its 24/7 alcohol monitoring footprint in South Dakota with the addition of new AB Kiosk® systems in the counties of Roberts, Moody, and Davison. Ten South Dakota counties now use the AB Kiosk system to autonomously conduct court-mandated alcohol screening for their 24/7 Sobriety clients.
In addition, the company reported that San Patricio Community Supervision and Corrections (SPCSC) in Corpus Christi, Texas, will add two more AB Kiosk systems to its probation check-in program for low-risk clients. The AB Kiosk system automates the entire probation check-in process for SPCSC, including appointment coordination, identity verification, video recordings, and record keeping. By automating these functions, the SPCSC can devote more probation officer time to directly monitoring higher-risk probationers.
PKT closed a strong first quarter by also deploying new Kiosks in Delaware County, Indiana, for probation check-ins, and in Green County, Wisconsin, for alcohol screening. As of March 31st, AB Kiosks have conducted more than 550,000 probation check-ins and breathalyzer tests nationwide, saving law enforcement and probation agencies tens of thousands of man-hours that were then redirected into higher-value work in law enforcement and probation.
“Our AB Kiosk system is designed to hold all clients of the courts to a high level of accountability while also freeing-up law enforcement personnel and probation officers to focus on their efforts on higher-risk populations,” says Patrick McKinney general manager of Precision Kiosk Technologies. “By automating all the busy work of coordination, testing, check-ins, record-keeping, and reporting, our client jurisdictions can reduce their administrative costs and more fully apply the talent of their staffs to increasing the safety of their communities.”
The AB Kiosk system can coordinate up to 30 alcohol-monitoring tests and probation check-ins per hour by leveraging two integrated components: a stand-alone interactive kiosk and a robust client-management software program. The system uses biometric fingerprint authentication to verify the individual’s identity, captures video as it administers each breathalyzer screening or probation check-in, and automatically uploads all data to the client’s file.
