DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--HomeVestors®, the original “We Buy Ugly Houses®” company, presented $20,000 to Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County in honor of Bernardo Mazzucco, an Orlando real estate investor who recently won “The Ugliest House Of The Year” contest. Highlighting the most incredible “befores” and “afters” from the nearly 10,000 houses the company’s independently owned and operated franchises purchased in 2021, this year’s contest was won by Mazzucco’s first-ever HomeVestors makeover and included the donation to his local Habitat for Humanity.
“Like Habitat for Humanity, we work in communities nationwide to introduce homes to the market that help maintain an affordable housing supply for buyers,” said David Hicks, CEO of HomeVestors. “We were honored to visit Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County to present this donation alongside Bernardo, demonstrating our joint commitment to a world where everyone has a safe and affordable place to live.”
“The Ugliest House Of The Year” was the first house Mazzucco bought as a HomeVestors franchise, and was voted the winner after a national public vote from among houses submitted by “We Buy Ugly Houses” franchisees nationwide. Mazzucco’s project represents the best of the thousands of houses that were considered hopeless but will now be loved for years to come.
“This year, I did my best to do small things in a great way,” said Mazzucco. “I was honored for my project to be recognized, especially since it brought the benefit of giving back to my own Orlando community. David and I had a wonderful time meeting with the team from Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County to present our donation and touring one of Habitat’s Orlando communities.”
“Habitat for Humanity and HomeVestors have so much in common because we are both trying to improve our neighborhoods and communities,” said Catherine Steck McManus, President & CEO of Habitat for Humanity Greater Orlando & Osceola County. “This generous gift and gifts like it truly increase the number of people we are able to serve with affordable housing.”
