SOUTHLAKE, Texas--()--The global strategic communications advisory firm TrailRunner International today announced the hiring of Heather Wilson, an industry veteran with over two decades of communications experience, as a Managing Director in the firm’s Dallas-Fort Worth office.

Prior to joining TrailRunner, Wilson was a Senior Consultant for the Silicon Valley communications firm Big Valley Marketing, where she led strategic, financial, and crisis communications for the firm’s cybersecurity and tech clients. Previously, she served as Managing Director and Head of California for SKDK, based out of Los Angeles, and as Managing Director and Head of the San Francisco office of Abernathy MacGregor, where she also led the firm’s digital and social media strategy. Prior to that she led corporate and crisis communications on the West Coast for Weber Shandwick. Wilson also helped launch and serves as media advisor to the Silicon Valley-based nonprofit Project Include, which works to improve diversity and inclusion in the tech sector.

Wilson has worked with clients ranging from Silicon Valley startups to major consumer brands, financial services firms, professional sports teams, and the media and entertainment industry. She has handled a wide array of complex issues, including high-profile litigation, government investigations, data breaches, product issues, pandemic response, and airline disasters. As a media and crisis trainer, she has counseled celebrities, professional athletes, CEOs, and public officials.

“We are excited to welcome Heather to TrailRunner International,” said Jim Hughes, CEO of TrailRunner International. “Heather’s wealth of experience as a senior advisor to companies involved in major litigation, transactions, operational crises, and other special situations deepens our strength in these areas as we continue to grow as a firm.”

“TrailRunner’s culture of collaboration and service to clients is truly exceptional,” said Wilson. “I look forward to putting my expertise to work on behalf of our clients and helping this remarkable team continue to go from strength to strength.”

Wilson’s appointment is the latest in a series of senior-level appointments and promotions at TrailRunner. In February, the firm named Hughes CEO as founder Jim Wilkinson took on the role of Executive Chairman. Veteran industry leaders Jennifer Kuperman and Jen Crichton signed on as Managing Directors in February, and New York office head Kelly Wallace this month was named to the global role of Chief Operating Officer.

TrailRunner has experienced significant growth since its founding in 2016, with strong momentum in special situations and corporate assignments spanning financial communications, crisis communications, corporate reputation, sports, and high-impact reputational work across the full spectrum of corporate affairs.
