Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware Sponsors Print Ad from TransPerfect Senior Employees Urging Chief Justice Collins Seitz Jr. To Recuse Himself from Litigation Related to TransPerfect

Seitz twice disqualified himself from TransPerfect-related litigation due to a disabling conflict of interest, but has yet to do so for ongoing litigation

WILMINGTON, Del.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Today, Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware announced a new print ad in the Delaware News Journal featuring an open letter from 10 senior TransPerfect employees urging Delaware Supreme Court Chief Justice Collins J. Seitz Jr. to recuse himself from all ongoing litigation related to the company.

The letter highlights that Seitz twice disqualified himself from adjudicating litigation related to TransPerfect due to a disabling conflict of interest, yet later decided to uphold the Chancery Court’s unprecedented decision to force the sale of TransPerfect despite its growth and profitability.

In the letter, the authors tell Seitz: “Your decisions and the unnecessary and false rhetoric that went along with them only confirm your initial decision to disqualify yourself from ruling on the TransPerfect case. It’s abundantly clear that it was inappropriate for you to participate in our company’s appeal to the Supreme Court, and it’s still inappropriate for you to continue adjudicating any litigation related to TransPerfect.”

Said Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware Campaign Manager Chris Coffey, “The ongoing trauma that TransPerfect employees from the c-level downward have experienced at the hands of Delaware’s corrupt court system must end. As this letter clearly demonstrates, Chief Justice Seitz has no business being anywhere near cases affecting TransPerfect. Given his inflammatory rhetoric and inconsistent applications of ethical standards, it’s no wonder that these hard-working employees feel targeted by Seitz. We are proud to lift up their voices and echo their call for Chief Justice Seitz to immediately recuse himself from any and all litigation affecting TransPerfect in front of the Supreme Court.”

Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware is a group made up of more than 5,000 members including employees of the global translation services company TransPerfect, as well as concerned Delaware residents, business executives and others. They formed in April of 2016 to focus on raising awareness with Delaware residents, elected officials, and other stakeholders about the unprecedented, forced sale of TransPerfect. While their primary goal of saving the company has been accomplished, they continue their efforts to fight for more transparency in the Delaware Chancery Court.
