DotCom Therapy Named to Fast Company’s Annual List of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2022

Pediatric Teletherapy Provider Helps Schools and Health Systems Address the National Mental Health Crisis by Delivering Services Wherever Children Need Them

MADISON, Wis.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--DotCom Therapy (DCT), the most comprehensive pediatric teletherapy provider, has been named to Fast Company’s prestigious annual list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for 2022, and is recognized among the 10 most innovative companies taking on some of the world’s most critically urgent current events.

This year’s list honors businesses that are making the biggest impact on their industries and culture as a whole—ultimately thriving in today’s ever-changing world. These companies are creating the future today with some of the most inspiring accomplishments of the 21st century.

The disruption in children’s lives due to the pandemic exposed and highlighted an ongoing mental health crisis for families across the United States. According to the CDC, 1 in 6 children have a mental, emotional, or behavioral health disorder. A September DotCom Therapy survey showed that only half the parents are able to find the mental health support they needed for their children.

DotCom Therapy has provided virtual therapy for families, schools and health systems since 2015, making its experience and business model invaluable through the COVID-19 pandemic and to address the provider shortages and mental health crisis the country currently faces. The company’s innovative model of delivering pediatric teletherapy to children regardless of their location has helped families that would otherwise not be able to obtain the services they need. In addition, DCT’s groundbreaking work with the International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards helped pioneer a certification program that has standardized pediatric teletherapy across the country, ensuring that teletherapy sessions are as good or better than live sessions.

“Creating a teletherapy experience that is just as good, or better, than in-person therapy has always been a priority. And its why we made the very early decision that all our therapists should be direct, W2 employees of the company – with benefits – and we’re the only company in the market built on that model,” said Rachel Mack Robinson, founder and president of DotCom Therapy. “Having employees instead of freelance contractors creates a sense of community and stability for our entire community – the people on the front line, and the families and children they help. For the children, this stability provides a routine with an adult they can trust, which is extremely important.”

To maintain its high standards for quality and ensure therapy services are having the most positive impact for children and families, DCT developed and uses a rating system for clients to provide feedback on sessions and outcomes. In aggregate, the company has maintained an average of 4.9 out of 5 for user experience.

During the pandemic, DotCom Therapy also launched The DotCommunity, offering families and caregivers resources including videos on how parents can work with their children on therapeutic targets throughout the home environment, advocacy resources such as places to find information for ADHD or autism, and handouts for parents to work one-on-one with their children in a home setting. The DotCommunity also provides a network of support for parents beyond the teletherapy sessions.

“The world’s most innovative companies play an essential role in addressing the most pressing issues facing society, whether they’re fighting climate change by spurring decarbonization efforts, ameliorating the strain on supply chains, or helping us reconnect with one another over shared passions,” said Fast Company Deputy Editor David Lidsky.

For the second year in a row, to coincide with the issue launch, Fast Company will host its Most Innovative Companies Summit on April 26–27. The virtual, multiday summit celebrates the Most Innovative Companies in business, and provides an early look at major business trends and an inside look at what it takes to innovate in 2022. Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies issue (March/April 2022) is available online here, as well as in-app form via iTunes, and on newsstands beginning March 15. The hashtag is #FCMostInnovative.
