Gutenberg Technology Reports Step Change Growth as Publishers’ Digital Transformation Accelerates in 2021

BOSTON--()--Gutenberg Technology (GT), which powers content management and transformation in some of the world’s leading education publishers, higher education institutions, and certification organizations, today announced strong growth and momentum in 2021.

GT exceeded revenue growth forecasts and doubled its customer base. GT also expanded its market-leading suite of patented tools, onboarded Wiley (the multibillion dollar education company), and announced strategic partnerships with Lumina Datamatics (a leading content services vendor) and the AI Institute (which uses proprietary AI to automate question generation to enable adaptive learning experiences at dramatically lower cost and time).

The company’s acceleration reflects the large and urgent transformations that education publishers and certification providers are going through to reduce costs, accelerate time to market, and deliver more engaging student digital experiences. GT also saw growth from higher education institutions who turned to Online Program Management (OPM) companies to help them get courses online quickly through COVID, but are now seeking more cost-effective and sustainable technical solutions that better leverage their own teaching talent.

“We see the education sector changing quickly and irreversibly, with organizations trying to re-organize themselves before the market forces it upon them,” said Gjergj Demiraj, CEO of GT. “To meet those market demands, education companies, education institutions, and certification organizations are increasingly transitioning to a blended and continuous publishing model, where textbooks, courseware, and courses are regularly updated and personalized for each user to drive better learner outcomes. GT’s intuitive authoring tool, real-time collaborative environment, streamlined workflows, and push-button distribution to any digital platform or print makes continuous publishing an efficient and cost-effective reality.”

In addition to supporting the largest education publishers, such as Cengage and Wiley, GT onboarded a significant number of small- to mid- size publishing companies aiming to “level up” with larger competitors by adopting GT’s highly automated tools. Brian Favro, CEO of Labyrinth Learning, a publisher of computer and business skills learning materials, said, “GT will help us level the playing field with the larger publishers. I’ve always thought a tool like this should exist, I’m glad to finally learn I wasn’t wrong.”
