NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Axonius, the leader in cybersecurity asset and SaaS management, today announced that Hacker Valley Media, the popular cybersecurity podcast studio, was named as one of the winners of the inaugural Anthem Awards, a new initiative of The Webby Awards. The studio received the Silver Anthem Award in the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion – Special Projects category for its work on We Are Here, which explores the crucial role people of color and other historically marginalized groups play in cybersecurity.
The International Academy of Digital Arts and Sciences created the Anthem Awards to reward projects with a major social impact. Hacker Valley Media’s inclusion represents a watershed moment in global recognition of cybersecurity as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion within the field. Hacker Valley Media Co-Founders Chris Cochran and Ron Eddings, who also serve as creative directors at Axonius, join some of the world’s most prominent organizations and entertainers as Anthem Award recipients, including Trevor Noah, Google, Microsoft, HBO, and CNN.
“We feel passionately about amplifying black voices — and other underrepresented voices — in cybersecurity and technology because representation is key to bringing more diverse talent into the industry,” said Cochran. “We started this series because having difficult conversations about diversity and inclusion is massively important. We wanted to give people, both the underrepresented and allies, a safe place to have authentic, open dialogue, share their experiences, and discuss pathways for solving this pervasive challenge.”
As part of the We Are Here series, Cochran and Eddings have interviewed prominent figures, such as finance expert Patrice Washington and Congresswoman Yvette Clark, as well as cybersecurity industry leaders. The first season focused on the experiences of people of color in tech, while the second season contextualizes this discussion in a broader set of diversity, equity, and inclusion topics. Future episodes will focus on these topics in the context of the broader technology industry.
“It is our distinct honor to recognize the work that brands, organizations, and individuals are all making to create an impact in their community,” said Jessica Lauretti, Managing Director, The Anthem Awards. “We launched this platform to show the world that all corners of our culture, from sports and entertainment to business leaders and celebrities, are all standing up to say, it is time for systemic change and that social good is what we value as a society.”
Hacker Valley Media will join the other award recipients in a virtual award ceremony at 5:00 p.m. EST on Monday, Feb. 28, 2022. For more information about the Anthem Awards, including how to watch the award ceremony, visit www.anthemawards.com.
