WALNUT CREEK, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Relation Insurance Services (“Relation”), one of the largest and fastest-growing national insurance agencies, announced today it acquired the assets of Dallas, Texas-based Sleeper Sewell Insurance (“Sleeper Sewell”). Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.
Sleeper Sewell was originally founded in 1962 and has a long track record of serving the Dallas community. Presently, Sleeper Sewell offers a full suite of employee benefits, commercial lines, and personal lines products to companies and individuals across the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex. Sleeper Sewell’s clients consist of individuals and businesses across a broad spectrum of industries that include industrials, financial institutions, manufacturing, restaurants, transportation, and life science. All principals and employees of Sleeper Sewell, including Myles Mendenhall, President and Michael Darnell, Executive Vice President, will continue with Relation.
Sleeper Sewell was majority-owned by insurance industry veteran D. Michael Sherman, who led the management-buyout of Sleeper Sewell from The American National Bank of Texas in 2018. Mike Sherman will continue to advise Sleeper Sewell and Relation.

In conjunction with the acquisition of Sleeper Sewell, Relation is excited to announce the hiring of Vincent (Vince) Bell as Vice President in its Dallas office. Vince previously served as President of Bell Insurance Group, a long-standing insurance brokerage firm in Dallas. Vince will lead the further development of Relation’s P&C practice in Dallas, producer recruiting efforts and acquisition sourcing.
