Empower Community Care Invests in Carey Group

ATLANTA--()--Empower Community Care (“Empower”), a leading global behavioral health organization responsible for distributing evidence-based programs and technologies, is pleased to announce it has acquired The Carey Group, Inc. (“TCG”) & Carey Group Publishing, LLC (“CGP”) (collectively, “Carey Group”). Carey Group provides consulting services and educational content to criminal and juvenile justice and other human and social services agencies. Empower’s existing investors include its management team and Northlane Capital Partners (“NCP”).

Led by Mark Carey and Madeline (Mimi) Carter, Carey Group is a national consulting firm and provider of training and educational tools and content, enabling the effective application of evidence-based practices (“EBPs”) in a variety of youth and adult settings.

“Our partnership with Carey Group represents an important milestone for Empower and enables us to better serve justice organizations and a broad array of entities. Carey Group will operate independently under the Empower platform. We intend to enhance its reach and breadth of services through additional investment that will help to expand Carey Group’s customer base, services, and products,” said Logan Greenspan and Josh Glade, co-CEOs of Empower.

Mark Carey noted, “We are very excited about this new opportunity and the expanded capacity it will bring to CGP and TCG. Carey Group’s products and services will not change, and we are confident the partnership with Empower will enable us to continue to grow and better serve our customers.”

In conjunction with the acquisition, Susan Burke will be promoted to Executive Director of both TCG and CGP. Prior to joining Carey Group in 2019, Susan was Director of Utah’s Division of Juvenile Justice Services. Both Mark and Mimi will continue with Carey Group following the transaction.
