ST. LOUIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--This year Missouri American Water replaced approximately 32,500 feet, or more than six miles of aging mains dating back to the 1920s-1960s in Webster Groves and unincorporated South St. Louis County.
“Missouri American Water is accelerating the replacement of water pipes that are reaching the end of their useful life across the state,” said President Rich Svindland. “The $16.7 million investment will continue to advance water service reliability for our customers and enhance fire protection for our first responders.”
Some notable area main replacement projects include:
- Nearly 5,000 feet of main along Sappington Barracks Rd. between Barracks View Rd. and Telegraph Rd.
- Nearly 3,000 feet of main along Ringer Rd. between Lemay Ferry and Yaeger Rd.
- More than 3,500 feet of main along S. Elm Ave. between E. Lockwood Ave. and Big Bend Blvd.
- More than 2,000 feet of main along Forman Rd. between Weber Rd. and Blackhawk Dr.
- More than 1,000 feet of main along McDonald Pl. between S. Rock Hill Rd. and Gray Ave.
“Many of the pipes in this area are 60-100 years old, and corrosion that has slowly occurred over time can result in main breaks today. Replacing them with new, larger pipe will help keep life flowing for our customers for decades to come,” explained Senior Director of Operations Brian Eisenloeffel.
