WATERTOWN, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--epocrates, an athenahealth, Inc., company that delivers digital clinical decision support to prescribers, today announced it has released the latest version of its free CME offering to make it easier and more convenient for clinicians stay on top of their medical learning while keeping up with their practice. The new, innovative design creates a more personalized, browsable space to engage with CME activities and earn necessary credits anywhere, on any device, at any time.
The new experience follows the launch of epocrates’ CME platform earlier this year and demonstrates the company’s continued investment in the growing digital CME space. In the first six months since the feature launched in the app, clinicians have engaged in more than 70,000 learning sessions and 59% of learners who began a CME activity have finished it and requested a certificate to attain credit. Other notable utilization trends from the app include:
- 20% of user engagement takes place on Tuesdays, the most popular day for clinicians to access CME content
- The most popular times during the week to complete CME is at 5pm (66%) and 4am (64%)
- 35% of total users engage with the shorter, snackable 15-minute activities
- Family practice, psychiatry, internal medicine, and emergency medicine are the specialty areas receiving the most engagement
“CME continues to be a strategic priority for our business as we look to fill a crucial industry need that will only grow more in 2022. Since launching our CME offering in the spring, we have kept an ear to the ground, listening to our users’ feedback and identifying ways to enhance our tool to make it even more convenient for clinicians who need credits, but don’t have much free time on their hands. This latest version makes it even easier for clinicians to find and engage with tailored CME activities and earn the credits they need to maintain their licensure, enhance their practice, and deliver the highest quality care,” said Diane Bartoli, vice president and general manager, epocrates. “With our extensive digital expertise in the industry, we are uniquely positioned to create a state-of-the-art CME experience and we will continue evolving the platform to meet the ever-changing needs of today’s and tomorrow’s clinicians.”
The latest release offers multiple new user-centric features including an activity browser that allows clinicians to browse the entire catalog by topic, therapeutic area, credit amount, and more. Other innovative features include a recommendations reel, which matches a clinician’s interests to catalog content in an easy-to-swipe personalized highlight reel, and the ability for clinicians to save their favorite activities and build their own personal library for learning on their schedule. The various activity lengths and the mobile-first nature of the platform create unmatched flexibility for doctors, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and pharmacists to easily use the tool at their convenience to keep up with medical knowledge relevant to their role and specialty.
