CHICAGO & PURCHASE, N.Y.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Trustmark Health Benefits, Inc. today announced the launch of their first virtual-first health plan design in partnership with Teladoc Health, the global leader in whole-person virtual care. Teladoc Health’s primary care service, Primary360, sits at the center of the health plan design and is complemented by the full suite of virtual care services, including chronic care management and mental health. The offering is specifically designed to address persistent challenges in cost and access to high-quality healthcare for millions of consumers, especially those who do not have an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider. The Trustmark myVirtualCare Access, Care by Teladoc, offering will be available nationwide to self-funded employers beginning in calendar year 2022. Trustmark Health Benefits, a leading national health benefits administrator, will act as the third-party administrator. Leading global professional services firm, Aon, provided knowledge, expertise and was influential in developing the solution.
The myVirtualCare Access offering combines the convenience and access of virtual care with a modern, attractive plan design meant to reinvent the consumer healthcare experience. Through the offering, members establish an ongoing relationship with a primary care provider of their choosing paired with a dedicated care team to help navigate their healthcare experience. Benefits include reduced care costs, improved outcomes and a unified member experience.
The myVirtualCare Access offering leverages Teladoc’s best-in-class care delivery in conjunction with Trustmark’s health benefit administration capabilities and bricks and mortar network integration. The virtual-incentivized benefit design includes $0 co-pays for all virtual services as well as preferential co-pay/cost sharing for all-in person services coordinated by the Teladoc Primary360 team. Additionally, by embedding the networks of multiple national carriers, members who select myVirtualCare Access can continue to receive care with existing relationships. The simple benefit design streamlines a complex healthcare ecosystem and empowers members to better manage their health. Each member receives a personalized care plan, tailored to the member’s health journey and includes the ongoing management of chronic conditions ranging from diabetes and hypertension to obesity and depression.
“We believe that virtual-first benefit designs represent the convergence of employer and consumer demand and are the next step in unlocking the true power of whole-person virtual care. We are excited to power Aon and Trustmark’s innovative modern benefit design and look forward to the impact we will have on both member health and the overall cost of care,” said Kelly Bliss, Teladoc Health President, U.S. Group Health. “This offering will be compelling for employees that increasingly demand virtual care and for plan-sponsors’ searching for a modern and affordable plan design.”
Trustmark Health Benefits can now offer the Trustmark myVirtualCare Access, care by Teladoc, benefit design to its current and prospective self-funded clients. “Trustmark creates value for its self-funded clients through innovative and creative solutions that help them make informed decisions that will save them and their members money. We have had a long-standing relationship with Teladoc Health, which provides virtual care to our clients, and we are excited to expand this relationship to include the myVirtualCare Access offering,” said Nancy Eckrich, President, Trustmark Health Benefits, Inc. “We believe that this transformative offering will expand access to primary care services through an integrated and consumer-centered healthcare experience that will help reduce healthcare costs for employers and their members.”
Aon’s thought leadership was instrumental to the design and structuring of this new offering. “Aon shares a similar vision as Teladoc Health and Trustmark Health Benefits in their desire to transform care delivery by incenting individuals to use primary care physicians as an entry point to care,” said Stephanie DeLorm, senior vice president, Health Solutions, Aon. “We estimate that a virtual-first model could reduce employer medical plan costs by as much as 10 percent. The recent expansion of virtual care will continue beyond the global COVID-19 pandemic, spurring even greater adoption. The timing is right for a virtual-first health plan to be offered as an option at annual open enrollment for employee benefits, as organizations continue to look for ways to build more resilient workforces.”
