Zayo Expands Fiber Network to Address Increasing Demand for Connectivity in Denver Area

In Addition to Zayo’s Unmatched Global Network, Customers in Denver Will Have Access to a New Product Offer That Provides a Superior, Secure and Affordable Internet Experience

BOULDER, Colo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Zayo Group Holdings, Inc., a leading global provider of fiber-based communications solutions, today announced continued investment and expansion of network infrastructure in the Denver area. Zayo is building more than 170 miles of new fiber to add diversity to a key route between Denver and Dallas, two major tech hubs. Completion of the project is anticipated by the end of September 2022 and will result in new, direct fiber connectivity to hundreds of buildings in the Denver area. Driving demand for connectivity is both Denver’s position as a top-ranked tech talent market and the technology focus of the area's major industry sectors which include aerospace, broadcast and telecommunications, financial services, and IT-software.

Zayo is also rolling out a new product offer to new and existing customers in the greater Denver area. The package, called Shielded Internet Access, includes some of Zayo’s most popular services: Dedicated Internet Access, DDoS Protection and CloudLink, all for a single price that will be competitively positioned well below current market benchmarks.

“Denver continues to be a growing hub for technology companies, increasing the demand for reliable connectivity,” said Dennis Kyle, Senior Vice President, Product Marketing at Zayo. “We are committed to continued investment in Colorado to support customers’ demand for diverse, high-capacity fiber connectivity to enable their growth and ability to innovate. Zayo’s unmatched network combined with the Shielded Internet Access package provides customers in the market with the bandwidth that takes them anywhere they need to be in the most convenient, cost-effective way possible.”

According to a report from the Metro Denver Economic Development Corporation (EDC), Colorado ranked fourth for high-tech employment concentration in 2019 and the state has ranked in the top four nationally since 2000. As a result of the pandemic, employment in the IT-software service industry has also grown in Metro Denver, particularly within cloud infrastructure, online security and specialized software solutions. Denver is also well known as a secondary data center market and a growing technology hub due to its numerous data center facilities and the number of enterprises and technology companies in the area. According to a CBRE report on the growth of North American data centers, Denver saw strong leasing activity that led to positive net absorption in the first half of the year, meaning demand for IT infrastructure in the area continues to grow.

“Zayo’s continued investment and expansion within the Denver area underscores the region’s stature as a booming hub for high-tech industries,” said J. J. Ament, President and CEO of the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce. “The fiber infrastructure provided by Zayo will support critical connectivity for the business community while also enabling continued growth in the greater Denver area.”

The expansion in Denver is part of an overall upgrade to Zayo’s U.S. in-demand markets and includes the release of custom solutions, bundling internet and security services and enabling dedicated internet service plus distributed denial of service (DDoS) protection. Zayo’s cloud-based suite of DDoS Mitigation Services provides advanced detection and mitigation technologies. The mitigation services offer three levels of tailored protection, providing important layers of defense and monitoring on Zayo’s international Tier 1 IP security enabled network. The unique solutions provide an enterprise-class network for superior performance and a comprehensive security suite, ensuring guaranteed network availability through Zayo’s Internet Access SLA.
