SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Elotl, the industry's first Nodeless Kubernetes Platform to run applications in a cloud-agnostic, cost-effective, secure, and simple manner, announced today that it raised $5 million in seed funding led by Vertex Ventures US. Other participants in the round include Essence Venture Capital, HearstLab, Telescopic, XYZ, Dan Scheinman, and CEO of LaunchDarkly, Edith Harbaugh.
While Kubernetes presents an incredible opportunity to unify compute orchestration across private and public clouds, adoption has been hindered by three key roadblocks: operational complexity, wasted spend, and multi-tenant security concerns.
“Time and time again, I’ve seen roadblocks preventing enterprises from fully embracing cloud adoption,” said Madhuri Yechuri, CEO & Founder of Elotl. “That’s exactly why I founded Elotl after spending decades at companies like ClusterHQ, VMware, and Oracle. Elotl eliminates wasted spend and time so that enterprises can focus on their core business instead of mundane, unrelated tasks and keep development teams focused on delivering functionality.”
Nodeless Kubernetes provisions just-in-time, right-sized, cost-effective, and cloud-agnostic compute for an enterprise’s app when the app starts and terminates the compute instances when the app terminates. For customers like Robinhood and Symphony, Elotl has demonstrated 60-80% cost savings, improved multi-tenant security, and simplified operations for Kubernetes users on AWS and GCP.
“We needed a solution that was scalable for our fully-managed Buildkite and Bazel offerings and that's where Elotl came in," said Zach Gray, CEO of Flare.build. "Their Nodeless Kubernetes helps us scale our agents and our infrastructure automatically, helping simplify our operations. This has allowed us to effectively and efficiently manage thousands of CI machines for hundreds of customers with a small team.”
Within the last year, Elotl has expanded deployments by 5x, seen increased customer adoption velocity for CICD workloads, including cloud-native mobile application build and test, and joined the Mobile Native Foundation as a founding member.
“At Vertex US, we partner with enterprising founders like Madhuri who are building solutions for the rapidly-changing DevOps environment,” said Jonathan Heiliger, General Partner at Vertex Ventures US. “As former founders and technical operators, we know much time is wasted on manual, repetitive tasks and how much Elotl can help by seamlessly shifting workloads across cloud providers. The founding team brings real-world experience from Oracle, VMware, and Uber and we’re excited at the opportunity for Elotl to accelerate the way enterprises approach multi-cloud management and Kubernetes workload optimization.”
Elotl plans to use the funding to hire across departments, continue building the platform, and expand to multiple cloud providers. To learn about career opportunities at Elotl, please visit elotl.co/careers.
