IRVINE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Allen Matkins, a California-based, full-service business and real estate law firm, announced today the addition of litigation partner Drew A. Harbur to its Orange County office. Drew’s practice includes both the representation of clients on some of the most complex civil and white collar matters as well as extensive trial and courtroom experience. This combination enables him to proficiently handle every stage of litigation, from early strategic decisions through closing argument in front of a jury. Drew has tried more than 25 cases to jury verdict and achieved exceptional results in each case.
“Drew’s vast jury trial experience is a valued addition to our firm’s already flourishing litigation team and strong bench of trial attorneys,” says Allen Matkins partner Anthony J. Oliva, head of the firm’s Litigation Group. “Drew is the second very talented litigator Allen Matkins has hired in as many months, having brought on commercial litigator and trial attorney Kevin Lloyd in August, proving that Allen Matkins continues to attract the most talented attorneys in the State.”
Drew’s career highlights include representing a major bank in multiple global regulatory and antitrust investigations in the U.S., Zurich, London, Singapore, and Hong Kong. At the same time, he also represented local Orange County clients in financial, property, contract, and trade secret litigation. He has served as lead trial counsel in a bet-the-company fraud/breach of fiduciary duty/unfair business practices case, securing a favorable settlement two days before delivering opening statement on behalf of a large investment group and its corporate officers, involving deposition testimony from 22 experts across medical, scientific, and financial fields. He also served as lead defense counsel in two separate large-scale construction/design defect cases for public companies and developed a damages model of over $100 million with a team of 14 experts across numerous fields.
Drew started his legal career at Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher LLP before going on to serve as Deputy District Attorney at the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office where he prosecuted 29 jury trials to verdict as lead counsel, including cases involving complex business fraud, murder, conspiracy, and unlawful business practices. Most recently he was a Senior Trial Attorney at Callahan & Blaine, APLC. Drew received his bachelor’s degree, with honors, from Emory University, and his J.D. from UCLA School of Law where he was managing editor of the UCLA Entertainment Law Review.
