Vive Benefits Announces Appointment of Suennen as New Board Member

SAN JOSE, Calif.--()--Vive Benefits, Inc. today announced that Lisa Suennen, Group Leader of Manatt Phelps & Phillips, LP’s Digital and Technology Practice and Managing Partner of the Manatt Venture Fund, has joined the Vive Benefits Board of Directors.

Lisa Suennen’s accomplished career culminates to more than 30 years in healthcare as entrepreneur, advisor and venture capitalist. Lisa’s current role is as Leader of Manatt Phelps & Phillips Digital and Technology Practice and Managing Partner of the Manatt Venture Fund spans technology across all sectors, although she primarily focuses on the intersection of innovation, healthcare and technology.

Lisa spent over 20 years as a venture capital investor; prior to Manatt she led the GE Ventures healthcare fund and she was previously a partner with Psilos Group, a healthcare venture fund. Prior to that, she was part of the leadership team that built Merit Behavioral Care from startup to an $800mm revenue behavioral healthcare company, helping lead the company through its successful IPO and exit. In this role she worked closely with employers and payers, key stakeholders for VIVE. She was previously in product and marketing management in the high tech field.

Lisa serves on the Boards of digital health companies Health Reveal, Inc. and HealthXL and as an advisor to several venture funds and emerging companies. She is on faculty at the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business where she teaches healthcare venture capital and innovation. Lisa chairs the advisory board of the NASA -funded Translational Research Institute for Space Health that is responsible for identifying innovative approaches to reduce human health risks on long-duration exploration missions, including NASA’s Journey to Mars. She also co-founded CSweetener, which matches women in and nearing the healthcare C-suite with mentors.

Lisa holds an B.A. in Political Science and Communications from the University of California at Berkeley and was selected for the inaugural class of the Aspen Institute’s Health Innovators Fellowship. Lisa is also the author of the widely-read Venture Valkyrie blog and co-hosted the Tech Tonics podcast.
