SAN CLEMENTE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--C2 Collaborative, an internationally acclaimed landscape architecture design firm, recently replanted 1,200 trees in Tesoro Viejo’s onsite nursery with an aim to replenish trees utilized for the landscaping of the innovative master-planned community located in Madera County, Calif. The ecologically focused project, a novel approach within the industry designed to minimize carbon emissions, will allow the newly planted trees to grow onsite in a temporary nursery to later be relocated for populating the next phases of the Tesoro Viejo development.
“Tesoro Viejo, a 1,600-acre development built on rolling hills and vistas, was designed with a commitment to community, sustainability and overall, the preservation of the agrarian history of the land,” said Paul Haden, president at C2 Collaborative. “Plants deliver more than just an aesthetic appeal, they provide benefits to our health and psychological wellbeing, in addition to reducing atmospheric pollutants. Through our replanting project, we strive to create a greater impact on the environment – one that cultivates health, community, beauty and social responsibility.”
A vibrant hub for southeastern Madera County, Tesoro Viejo is home to 5,190 residences with community features including 14 miles of trails that connect to the San Joaquin River; an elementary school and high school; a retail town center with coffee houses and eateries; 200-acres of neighborhood parks; 300-acres of preserved natural open spaces; a ranch clubhouse and recreation center; a local fire station and sheriff substation; and much more.
C2 Collaborative’s latest design is a fusion of Fresno’s urbanized style and the natural, agricultural characteristics of Madera County. Inspired by this combination, more than 17 species of trees – from Italian stone pines to California sycamores – were used in the initial two phases. Today, with eight more phases pending development, C2 Collaborative is regrowing its own trees, with a green approach top-of-mind.
“Our cutting-edge designs are methodically and purposefully planned out. Every part of our design has a strategic intent – from the logistics of where our communities are created to the reasons behind why a specific tree is selected for each project,” added Jack Haden, principal at C2 Collaborative. “C2 Collaborative takes pride in considering environmental factors when thinking about future projects.”
