DUBLIN--(BUSINESS WIRE)--The "Regulatory Report: Argentina - Heated Tobacco and Oral Tobacco" report has been added to ResearchAndMarkets.com's offering.
The regulation of heated tobacco and modern oral products, such as tobacco-free nicotine pouches or snus containing tobacco, will remain unchanged in Argentina for the foreseeable future.
For the time being, it does not seem to be a priority for the authorities to establish a clear regulatory framework for heated tobacco products, which means that they will remain under the legal framework of tobacco products. In contrast, public health organisations are working on a draft proposal to regulate the sale and use of e-cigarettes, arguing that current legislation - which dates from 2011 - is no longer fit for purpose.
Lastly, it remains to be seen whether the political parties and their representatives in parliament will end up backing a proposal that places alternatives to tobacco as the main tool for achieving a "smoke-free" Argentina by 2040. It has been proposed by the non-governmental Centre for Non-Communicable Disease Research (CIENTA) and implies that less than 5% of the population will be smokers by 2040.
This initiative has already been proposed by countries such as the UK and New Zealand, which seek the same by 2030 and 2025 respectively.
