Indiana Digital Learning School Class of 2021 to Be Celebrated With Online Graduation Ceremony

MODOC, Ind.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--After a school year like no other, Indiana Digital Learning School (INDLS), an online public school serving K-12 students throughout the state since 2017, will celebrate its graduates with a virtual commencement ceremony this weekend.

INDLS is tuition-free to all students who reside in Indiana, staffed by state-licensed teachers, and is an authorized online public-school program of the Union School Corporation in Modoc.

“Let’s be honest, it’s been a rough year for most families when it comes to education. And while other schools may have struggled with online learning throughout the year, INDLS students never missed a day of instruction,” said INDLS Head of School Elizabeth Sliger. “We’re so happy they made it to this point and look forward to seeing what they do next.”

This year, INDLS will graduate over 400 students. Approximately 50 students will graduate with a cumulative GPA above 3.5. And nearly $1 million worth of college scholarships have reportedly been awarded to the Class of 2021.

Collectively, the graduating class reports it has been accepted to colleges and universities across Indiana and beyond including Coastal College of Georgia, University of Buffalo in New York, Penn Foster College in Arizona, and Eckerd College in Florida.

Calvin Wade is INDLS’ 2021 valedictorian and plans to study biology in the fall. Mason Leffel is the class salutatorian and will attend Ball State University. The keynote speaker will be Kevin P. Chavous, Stride’s President, Academic Policy and External Affairs.

“INDLS was a breath of fresh air in an otherwise all-around odd year for me and my family,” said Wade. “I feel like I have the tools to move my life forward and I couldn’t be more thankful.”

Prior to the pandemic, students enrolled in virtual school for a number of reasons—some were looking to escape bullying, some may have fallen academically off track, and others were looking for an alternative to the traditional classroom setting.

INDLS students access a robust online curriculum in the core subjects and a host of electives and attend live virtual classes taught by state-certified teachers.

INDLS is inviting all families and friends worldwide to join the celebration. Details of the graduation ceremonies are as follows:
