DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--To succeed academically in middle school, students must be able to successfully read and comprehend text across the curriculum. Without content-area literacy skills, they will struggle to meet core curriculum requirements and be adequately prepared for high school. To help teachers identify students who are at risk for reading difficulties and determine the skills to target for instructional support, Voyager Sopris Learning today introduces Acadience Reading 7–8.
Acadience Reading 7–8 is a universal screening and progress monitoring assessment that measures the acquisition of content-area literacy skills for seventh and eighth grade students. It is administered three times a year as a benchmark, which is composed of up to three measures that function as indicators of the reading skills that middle school students need to proficiently read content-area text. Each measure is administered in triads that include one science, one social studies, and one prose passage.

With this data, educators can detect who may be at risk for reading difficulties, identify which areas to support, monitor students as they receive targeted instruction, and inform the effectiveness of the instructional support. In addition, the results can be entered into the Acadience Data Management system for reporting at the individual student, class, grade, school, and district levels.
