Husch Blackwell Strategies Launches Public Engagement Firm HBS+

WASHINGTON--()--Husch Blackwell Strategies (HBS) announced today it is launching a new affiliated company, HBS+ based in Washington, D.C. The firm is designed to work alongside traditional direct lobbying efforts by providing grassroots and grasstops advocacy, digital campaigns and public opinion campaigns to support legislative advocacy.

HBS is partnering with a nationally recognized expert in public affairs, grassroots advocacy and initiatives and referendum, Meghan Cox, who will lead HBS+ as the firm’s CEO. She is now in the process of recruiting a talented team which will be announced soon.

“HBS+ will work at the intersection of government and business helping corporations and advocacy groups alike,” Meghan said. “Our focus will be helping clients identify risk and opportunities and turning government dysfunction into action.”

Among the firm’s other services, the HBS+ team will create ballot access strategies and manage influence campaigns that give control back to its clients. The firm will build its corporate engagement campaigns from the ground up at the local, state and federal level. HBS+ strategies will be tailored for any situation so clients can go it alone or enlist industry allies.

Meghan brings a wealth of experience and success to HBS+ as she managed public engagement campaigns and ballot access efforts in every state as well as the Philippines and the United Kingdom. The firm’s leadership team also includes HBS Chairman and COO Andy Blunt and HBS Executive Vice Chairman and CEO Gregg Hartley.

Meghan noted, “Whether it’s protecting their reputation or working to keep ahead of the competition, corporate leaders spend a lot of time stressing over binary choices that leaves risk and opportunities unrealized. We help them fully understand their environment and how to successfully control it.”

Gregg added, “We are at a critical time as our economy starts to rebound when every CEO should be asking themselves, do we really know our risk and our opportunities?”

Andy replied, “Those answers are no longer two dimensional and the strength of our team’s experience can influence the direction of policy while increasing the avenues available for our clients to accomplish their objectives.”

Meghan recently served as Principal for public affairs firm Lincoln Strategy Group, a firm she helped launch in 2008. While at Lincoln, Meghan led large scale national grassroots campaigns for both political, trade association and corporate clients. Her clients have included Americans for Clean Coal Electricity, Wynn Las Vegas, eBay, StubHub, The Navajo Nation, Philip Morris International, British American Tobacco, the National Restaurant Association and the National Realtors Association. She also directed the paid field efforts for notable political candidates.
