BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GetWellNetwork, a global leader in patient engagement, announced today that it was ranked among the top vendors in the newly published KLAS report, “Vendor Performance in Response to the COVID-19 Crisis -- 2021 Update”. One of eight large vendors out of 98 total to earn a score of 8 or higher out of 9, GetWellNetwork was recognized for its consistent support and responsiveness to clients throughout the pandemic.
“We are honored by the recognition from our health system partners. It has been a life-altering year for all of us, and the opportunity to innovate on behalf of patients and the incredible healthcare workers who care for them has been our true privilege,” said Michael O’Neil, founder and chief executive officer of GetWellNetwork. “I am very proud and grateful for my partners and teammates at GetWell. They have worked so hard like all of us in the industry to have an impact during such an important time. The recognition from KLAS means a lot and provides more fuel to keep pushing.”
Recognizing that the messaging around COVID-19 was complex and confusing and that minority patients were being disproportionately impacted by the virus, GetWellNetwork put in place a solution that addressed both health literacy and health equity concerns.
In early spring 2020, as the COVID-19 threat was emerging, GetWellNetwork first assembled a 10-person Clinical Advisory Committee consisting of leaders in digital patient engagement and clinical experts, including physicians and nurses. The committee worked to develop and approve content to be used in GetWell Loop — GetWellNetwork’s digital care management solution — in support of patients and care teams. GetWell Loop enabled health systems to remotely monitor and manage patients with COVID-19, as well as provide patient education about COVID-19 and appropriately triage patients, mitigating system overload and reducing patient anxiety.
The GetWell Loop COVID-19 program was rolled out at more than 200 facilities, including five hospitals that are part of LifeBridge Health in Baltimore, MD. The program showed significant and almost immediate results.
At LifeBridge Health, when patients were supported with accurate COVID-19 information and guidance, 75 percent of patients were able to avoid office visits or phone calls, reducing the workload and stress on hospital staff. LifeBridge Health also found that engagement with GetWell Loop was 15 percent higher among Black and African-American patients.
“As COVID-19 emerged, we faced a lot of unknowns and challenges, including our ability to continue to monitor the health and well-being of our patients during this pandemic,” said Dr. Daniel Durand, Chairman of Radiology at LifeBridge Health. “I was pleased to join the GetWell Loop Clinical Advisory Committee to help develop COVID messages that would effectively communicate information to help our patients, particularly patients in our African-American communities, where we saw high levels of COVID infection.”
Overall, more than 475,000 individuals were enrolled in the program, and 88.8 percent of patients indicated they were satisfied or highly satisfied with the program.
GetWellNetwork customers surveyed for the KLAS report appreciated that GetWellNetwork released a platform to help health systems manage patients who tested positive for COVID-19 and recognized the team for constantly checking in and making adjustments for customers as needs arose.
