LONG BEACH, Calif.--()--SCAN Group, whose holdings include SCAN Health Plan, one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit Medicare Advantage plans, announced that Binoy Bhansali has joined the organization as Corporate Vice President of Corporate Development. Bhansali will be responsible for identifying opportunities for strategic partnerships, outside investments and acquisitions that support SCAN’s mission to keep seniors healthy and independent.

“Binoy Bhansali’s leadership, vision and know-how are exactly what we need as SCAN grows, diversifies and transforms the delivery of healthcare for older Americans,” said Dr. Sachin H. Jain, president and CEO of SCAN Group and SCAN Health Plan.

Bhansali joins SCAN after a successful tenure as a Managing Director in the Healthcare Group at Sandbox Industries, the venture capital/private equity fund with over $1.2B in assets under management. In that role, Bhansali sourced more than 1,000 healthcare technology and services companies from seed to growth equity stage, led diligence efforts in hundreds of companies, and completed investments in eight companies.

“Binoy has a proven track record of finding and investing in companies that align with our areas of strategic focus, including social determinants of health, telehealth, primary care and pharmacy,” said Jain. “His expertise will enable us to expand our efforts to support healthy aging by lowering the cost of care while improving quality of life and health outcomes among the populations we serve.”

“I’m excited to join SCAN Group and look forward to diversifying this mission-driven organization so more older adults can benefit from its decades of experience addressing the unique health needs of American seniors,” said Bhansali, who is a member of the Kauffman Fellows and has held positions at Citigroup, Accenture, and Impact Investment Partners.

SCAN Group also announced that Brenda Sulick, Ph.D. has accepted a promotion to Vice President, Public, Government & Community Affairs. Sulick, who is based in SCAN’s Washington, DC office, has been SCAN’s Government Affairs Representative since 2017.

“Since joining SCAN, Brenda has demonstrated a deep understanding of the regulatory and legislative changes and challenges facing the healthcare industry,” said Jain. “She’s also shown a keen sense for identifying the issues and areas SCAN Group can both influence and impact.”

Sulick has a wealth of public policy and healthcare experience from prior senior policy roles at AARP and the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare.

“I’m looking forward to taking on a leadership role with SCAN at a time when we’re demonstrating the value of Medicare Advantage, and how this unique funding model can be used to broaden access to quality healthcare for more older adults,” said Sulick.
