BETHESDA, Md.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--GrammaTech, a leading provider of application security testing products and software research services, today announced Shift Left Academy, an educational resource to help software development professionals implement a security first approach. The site features interviews with industry experts, technical “how to” advice and other unbiased actionable information for the DevOps and security community from well known figures including Steve Lipner, executive director, SAFECode and Jim Routh, former CISO of Aetna and member of the Cyber Advisory Board at Security Leadership Capital.
“Developers are being asked to integrate security best practices earlier in the development cycle, or what is commonly known as ‘Shift Left’, however there is resistance to implement these large-scale initiatives since they can be disruptive to their workflows and release schedules,” said Andrew Meyer, CMO of GrammaTech. “Shift Left Academy provides practical advice and content, versus theoretical resources. Our goal is to give the DevSecOps community tools they can use to immediately improve outcomes.”
Shift Left Academy is edited by former SANS analyst and content director Deb Radcliff, who has more than 25 years of experience in the cybersecurity industry, starting out as the first investigative journalist to make cybercrime a beat. She built relationships and worked with the FBI, DoD, Secret Service, CIA, local and state law enforcement as they were building their own cyber units. Her articles are cited in numerous research papers and college textbooks. She spoke at West Point, won two Neal Awards, and was runner up for a third. In 2005, Radcliff stood up a new Analyst Program for the SANS Institute overseeing focused whitepaper and webcast content developed by SANS experts.
“Development teams are under constant pressure to meet aggressive deadlines for delivering new software, with rolling releases and agile development practices that are pushing new features and code more quickly into production,” said Radcliff. “Shift Left Academy arms developers, DevOps and Q&A professionals with insights and advice they can use immediately to develop and release high quality and secure software.”
Shift Left Academy will feature:
- Interviews with top software development influencers and bloggers
- Videos and podcasts
- Ask the Expert Q/A Forum
- Tactical training videos
