Innovatus Appoints Darryl Elmouchi, M.D., M.B.A. to its Life Sciences Advisory Board

NEW YORK--()--Innovatus Capital Partners, LLC ("Innovatus" or the "Firm"), an independent adviser and portfolio management firm with approximately $1.5 billion in assets under management, today announced that it has appointed Darryl Elmouchi, M.D., M.B.A., the President of Spectrum Health West Michigan, a division of Spectrum Health System, to its Life Sciences Advisory Board.

Headquartered in New York, Innovatus’ life sciences strategy (“Innovatus Life Sciences”) provides growth capital in the form of senior secured debt and equity to support life sciences and select technology companies, including medical devices, diagnostics, life science tools, biotechnology, specialty pharmaceuticals, healthcare IT and software. The Firm seeks to invest $20 to $100 million in public and private commercial-stage companies and offer flexible financing solutions to fund rapid commercial growth and development programs.

Geoffrey Duyk, M.D., Ph.D., the founder and Managing Partner of Circularis LP, and Luis Diaz, M.D., the Head of the Division of Solid Tumor Oncology in Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center’s Department of Medicine, joined the Innovatus Life Sciences Advisory Board in 2020. As a member of the Innovatus Life Sciences Advisory Board, Dr. Elmouchi will provide counsel to the Firm on its investment strategy across life sciences sectors as the Firm seeks to partner with leading companies with differentiated products that address unmet medical needs, improve patient outcomes, reduce healthcare expenditures and create value for investors.

Dr. Elmouchi will serve as a member of the Innovatus Life Sciences Advisory Board. He is President of Spectrum Health West Michigan, which is a division of Spectrum Health System, an $8.2 billion not-for-profit integrated health system based in West Michigan. Spectrum Health West Michigan was formed in May 2020 by bringing together Spectrum Health Hospital Group and Spectrum Health Medical Group in one division, allowing a single leader and board to comprehensively deliver on the organization’s mission, vision and values. Spectrum Health West Michigan positions the organization for success in the rapidly evolving health care landscape by streamlining decision-making, increasing efficiency and enhancing accountability. Dr. Elmouchi is a core member of the Spectrum Health System senior leadership team.

Prior to assuming his current role, Dr. Elmouchi served as Chief Medical Officer, Spectrum Health System, and President of Spectrum Health Medical Group, with responsibility for the system’s multispecialty medical practice, as well as clinical quality, safety and patient experience across Spectrum Health, and oversight and direction for graduate and undergraduate medical education and the Spectrum Health Office of Research. He served as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of Spectrum Health Hospital Group, from 2017 to 2020. He was Chief, Division of Cardiovascular Medicine, Spectrum Health Medical Group, and Chair, Department of Cardiovascular Medicine, Spectrum Health Hospitals, from 2014 to 2016. From 2010 to 2014, he was Medical Director, Cardiac Electrophysiology, Spectrum Health, and served as a cardiac electrophysiologist at West Michigan Heart starting in 2006. Dr. Elmouchi also held clinical positions at University of Michigan Health System and University of California, San Francisco. He has been extensively engaged in committee roles, research and education. Dr. Elmouchi also holds an appointment as clinical professor of medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine.

Dr. Elmouchi earned his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School, a Master’s in Business Administration from University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business, a certificate in biostatistics from the University of Michigan School of Public Health and a bachelor’s degree in history from the University of California, Los Angeles. He completed his internship, residency and chief residency at the University of California, San Francisco and fellowships in cardiac electrophysiology and cardiovascular medicine at University of Michigan Health System.
