LogDNA Closes 2020 With Triple-Digit Revenue Increase

Growth further evidenced by team expansion of more than 70% and numerous platform updates that deliver massive productivity gains to modern engineering teams

SAN FRANCISCO--()--LogDNA, the leader in centralized log management for DevOps, today announced it closed 2020 with 155% year-over-year revenue growth and more than 800 new customers, including many global brands like Equinix and Reltio as well as many healthcare organizations and hyper-growth technology firms.

The company’s continued growth is fueled by the surge in digital services and applications that are now a critical part of nearly every business. Developers and engineering teams are drowning in alerts and massive volumes of logs that are increasingly difficult to consume. This results in countless hours wasted investigating and resolving issues, instead of building new products and capabilities that deliver business value.

“Engineering and development teams face insurmountable pressure to deliver more code, develop features and products faster, and create superior application experiences to remain competitive in the hyper-connected economy,” said Tucker Callaway, CEO, LogDNA. “As operations shift left, developers play an increasingly important role in keeping applications performing flawlessly. The LogDNA platform arms DevOps teams with actionable insights to more efficiently develop and debug their applications, resulting in improved collaboration across roles and massive productivity gains.”

LogDNA’s growth and ability to boost developer productivity in the modern enterprise was a primary driver behind the company’s July 2020 $25 million Series C funding round, led by existing investor Emergence Capital with participation from prior investors Initialized Capital and Providence Equity and new investors TI Platform Management, Radianx Capital, Top Tier Capital Partners, and Trend Forward Capital.

The investment, which brought the company’s total funding to $60 million, will support product innovation and company-wide growth. In 2020, the LogDNA team grew by more than 70%, including more than 65% growth in the Product and Engineering teams alone. The company also appointed Tucker Callaway as CEO, and added experienced executives hailing from leading tech platforms Cloudflare, Red Hat, DataStax and Amplitude, including: Caitlin Haberberger as chief financial officer, Sean Doherty as chief revenue officer, Dave Steer as vice president of marketing, and Sven Delmas as vice president of engineering.

Platform Scale and Innovation

Operating at a global scale, the LogDNA platform operates in 10 data centers across eight countries processing petabytes of data per month. This year, LogDNA launched Kubernetes Enrichment, which enables teams to debug Kubernetes deployment problems without separate tools or deep specialized knowledge. With this feature, Kubernetes events and resource metrics related to a specific service are displayed alongside existing application logs in the LogDNA UI. This gives developers and DevOps-oriented teams context about what’s happening in their applications without leaving their workflows so that they can identify and resolve issues more efficiently.

The company also updated its log management tool for Kubernetes to include support for Webhooks. This provides tighter integration with external applications and tools such as the project management software and collaboration platforms that are crucial to implementing best DevOps practices. LogDNA’s updated agent software can now access the Linux kernel to monitor log files and directories for changes.

To create a superior developer experience, LogDNA provides simple, turnkey integrations with all major operating systems, languages, and platforms, and many best-in-class development tools. During 2020, the company added integrations with LaunchDarkly and Vercel to help developers streamline their DevOps workflows with seamless logging, as well as a one-click integration with Instana for easier troubleshooting of microservices and cloud-native applications. LogDNA’s partnership with IBM Cloud also expanded to support logging for Red Hat OpenShift, allowing users to centralize their logs with IBM Log Analysis with LogDNA. The company continues to scale in support of its growing customer base, now supporting deployments logging as many as 500 GBs per day.
