February 18 Fireside Chat: Strengthening the US Economy and Local Communities

This event will feature speakers Rosemary Coates and Pandora Ovanessian as they address issues and challenges around reshoring, helping the economy, and work force issues.

“Reshoring brings industries such as manufacturing and IT, legal, and accounting back to the U.S., and is a critical part of rebuilding and strengthening the U.S. economy,” said Dianne Gubin, President of Amplify Professional Services Inc., an executive search and IT consulting firm, an Investment Banker and Co-CEO of C-Sweet. “A concerted effort to reshoring reduces unemployment by bringing back industry and creating meaningful jobs, both key to reducing income inequality issues.”

“Given the impact of COVID to the Global Economy, companies are rethinking where to do business and the value trade off. Companies are looking at items including lead time, higher product quality and consistency, as well as rising off shore wages,” said Beth Hilbing, Sr. Program Manager and Principal IT Business Partner at Boeing, as well as Co-CEO of C-Sweet. “There is now a focus on the bringing back manufacturing to the USA. It is important that US companies continue to respond to change customer demands.”

About our Speakers-

Rosemary Coates- is the Founder and Executive Director of the Reshoring Institute, a 501c3 nonprofit organization focused on expanding U.S. manufacturing. She is also the President of Blue Silk Consulting, a supply-chain management consulting firm.

Rosemary has been a management consultant for 25+ years, helping over 80 global supply chain clients worldwide. She is an Amazon.com best-selling author with five Supply Chain Management books, including the Reshoring Guidebook, 42 Rules for Sourcing and Manufacturing in China, and the Legal Blacksmith – How to Avoid and Defend Supply Chain Disputes. She also works as an Expert Witness on legal cases involving global supply chain disputes.

Additionally, Rosemary serves on the Board of Directors at the University of San Diego Supply Chain Management Institute and teaches Global Supply Chain Strategy at UC Berkeley. She earned an MBA from the University of San Diego and a bachelor’s degree in business logistics from Arizona State University.

Pandora Ovanessian- is a technology executive with more than 22 years as a Chief Information Officer experienced in startups, mid-size to multi-billion dollar global operations including a consulting career at Ernst & Young. She has diversified expertise in strategic planning and tactical execution, product development, ERP selections and implementations. She has extensive experience in selecting relevant innovative technologies, leading the technology lifecycle and cost-effective secure infrastructure.

Pandora has proven abilities in driving agility with innovative technologies for quick returns on investments. She has diversified industry experience in manufacturing for medical devices, pharmaceuticals, retail, aerospace and apparel. As CIO, she contributed in delivering on innovation and high growth for companies: Diality Inc., Community Pain Center, Thermo Fisher/One Lambda Inc., Golden State Foods, NASA JPL, Alpha Therapeutics/Baxter and ARAMARK. She currently serves as an Advisory Board member for Corenova Technologies and Caltech Entrepreneurs Forum.

At California Manufacturing Technology Consulting (CMTC), Pandora is a Technology Senior Consultant leading the consulting practice and providing interim CIO services. She is dedicated to helping leverage technology investments, increase revenue and productivity for the manufacturing industry.

Pandora earned her MBA at Pepperdine's Graziadio School of Business and Management and BA from University of California, Los Angeles. She also has a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
