DALLAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Arctos Sports Partners (“Arctos”), the first private investment platform dedicated to providing growth capital and liquidity solutions to professional sports franchise owners in major North American leagues and European soccer, today announced that Theo Epstein has joined the firm as an Executive-in-Residence. Epstein will focus on launching new initiatives for the firm as well as bringing his nearly three decades of experience in sports operations, leadership and analytics to identify opportunities and unlock value for institutional investors, professional sports organizations and partners across the professional sports ecosystem.
“Theo will bring extraordinary value and an unrivaled perspective to Arctos,” said Arctos Managing Partner Ian Charles. “His experience driving organizational excellence and building winning cultures will be a priceless resource for us and our partners. Theo brings a deep understanding of virtually every aspect of sports management, and an undisputed track record of success at the highest levels.”
During his nearly 30 years in Major League Baseball, Epstein was the architect of three championship teams, famously breaking two of the longest championship droughts in all of professional sports while leading the Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs to World Series titles. He is widely credited with building winning cultures that emanate across all levels of the organization, and was at the forefront of baseball’s data analytics revolution. In his role as Executive-in-Residence at Arctos, Epstein will be involved in all aspects of the firm’s investment operations including sourcing, underwriting, diligence, and new product development.
“I have known Theo for more than 15 years, and the Theo I know is much more than just a baseball guy,” said David “Doc” O’Connor, Managing Partner at Arctos. “Theo is a builder, an analytical thinker, an innovator, a manager of executives and talent who gets results. He’s a leader, a winner.”
“Arctos has such a brilliant mission and such unique expertise that in just over a year of existence, the firm has already started to reshape the sports landscape for the better,” said Theo Epstein. “I’m excited to explore all the ways we can partner to bring new opportunities, creative solutions and real value to professional sports franchises and leagues.”
Arctos’ investment expertise, coupled with its focus exclusively on the professional sports ecosystem, provides institutional investors with access to a new market while giving owners options for increased liquidity and structured growth capital solutions as a passive, but value-added partner.
