Research from Propeller Insights commissioned by Smarty found that more than half (51.3%) of Americans would be willing to pay for a service offering double cashback on purchases. Nearly as many (42%) said they would be willing to pay for a subscription service that guarantees free returns for items purchased online.
More than four in five Americans (80.9%) had packages delivered in December 2020, during the holiday season, including 43.2% who had five or more packages delivered. But 12.5% said none of their packages were delivered on time.
Other key research findings:
- Nearly half of Americans shipped 50% or more of their gifts this year.
- 84.5% of respondents said they look online for coupons or promo codes while shopping. But only 18.7% said the coupons and codes work every time and 36.8% said they only sometimes work.
- Nearly two-thirds of respondents said they have opted not to make a purchase because they couldn’t find a promo code to use.
- Almost half of Americans (47.1%) said they try to get free shipping every time they shop online and 73.5% said they use price matching or price protection for online shopping.
- 41.8% said that they would pay for a service that finds the best prices and 48% are willing to pay for purchase protection.
