RangeForce Partners with New York University to Provide Hands-on Training Environment for Cybersecurity Master’s Candidates

NYU Tandon School of Engineering Students will Use the RangeForce Interactive CyberSkills Training Platform to Acquire Security Skills via Real-World Simulations

MANASSAS, Va.--()--RangeForce, the company that is revolutionizing cybersecurity training, today announced a partnership with New York University Tandon School of Engineering’s prestigious Cyber Fellows program to help Master’s candidates gain advanced cyber security skills using the RangeForce Interactive CyberSkills Training Platform. Students will have access to more than 400 RangeForce learning modules and participate in a RangeForce BattleFortress Purple Team exercise on January 21st that will serve as a group capstone for their individually learned skills.

NYU is leading the way to equip students with real world skills for careers in cybersecurity by offering a progressive curriculum that covers strategies as well as hands-on training. This partnership will enable students to use leading security tools from Splunk, Recorded Future and Carbon Black within the RangeForce platform to learn how to defend against and respond to simulated cybersecurity threats.

“When NYU Cyber Fellows earn an NYU Cybersecurity Industry Partner badge, they gain real-world industry experience as they work towards their master’s degree,” said Professor Aspen Olmsted, Adjunct Faculty Member of NYU Tandon’s Cybersecurity Program. “This partnership will enable our students to learn practical skills via interactive training and simulations like they would on the job. By having access to the RangeForce platform our candidates can gain the expertise they need to immediately qualify for excellent job opportunities when they graduate.”

“NYU’s cyber fellows will go on to become the next wave of cybersecurity leaders,” said Gordon Lawson, President of RangeForce. “RangeForce is honored to partner with the university to provide students with a real-world, hands-on learning environment that will allow them to build muscle memory through realistic scenarios and be ready to step into a multitude of cyber defender roles when they complete the NYU Cyber Fellows program.”

The NYU Cyber Fellows program offers scholarships that result in one of the lowest-cost online master’s degrees in the country and develops highly skilled technical graduates ready to step into the growing cybersecurity gap. One of the most important elements of the NYU Cyber Fellows program is the collaboration with influential employers to ensure students get the precise cybersecurity education they need. “It is not only a fun event, but this type of hands-on experience provides a truly meaningful learning opportunity that can help students differentiate themselves and provide a key competitive advantage in their pursuit of a cybersecurity career,” said Devon Bryan, Managing Director, Chief Information Security Officer at MUFG Union Bank. As a member of the NYU Cyber Fellows Advisory Council, Devon will be kicking off the event with a welcome address highlighting the importance of cyber defense exercises.

About the New York University Tandon School of Engineering
The NYU Tandon School of Engineering dates from 1854, the date of the founding of both the New York University School of Civil Engineering and Architecture and the Brooklyn Collegiate and Polytechnic Institute, its original constituent institutions. A January 2014 merger created a comprehensive school of education and research in engineering and applied sciences, rooted in a tradition of invention and entrepreneurship and dedicated to furthering technology in service to society. From its Brooklyn campus, NYU Tandon collaborates with other schools within NYU, NYU Abu Dhabi and NYU Shanghai. Research at Tandon focuses on the intersections between communications/IT, cybersecurity, and data science/AI/robotics systems and tools and critical areas of society that they influence, including emerging media, health, sustainability, and urban living. The Cybersecurity programs are supported by the NYU Cyber Fellows Advisory Council, an important, executive-level, community-building forum for corporate partners, students and faculty to share, collaborate, and provide direction. The Council is dedicated to promoting education initiatives that attract underrepresented groups from across the country to increase diversity in the Cyber Security profession while addressing the national shortage of highly-trained, technical professionals.
