NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Stack Overflow, the most trusted platform for developers and technologists visited by more than 100 million people each month, today announced the appointment of Debbie Shotwell as Chief People Officer to lead the company’s people strategy. She will work to accelerate business results by attracting and retaining the best talent, empowering Stackers to reach their full potential, and creating a compelling employee experience that emphasizes collaboration, and diversity inclusion and belonging — all designed to drive business value.
With 20 years of experience, Shotwell has a successful track record of solving complex problems within large, medium and startup companies throughout the technology, media and service industries. Shotwell joins Stack Overflow from Saba Software. There, she served as Chief People Officer and led the people function, guiding it through two global acquisitions where the overall company strategy, mission, vision and values were redesigned to enable employees to deliver on business results. Her team was on the front lines of driving Saba’s award-winning culture; Saba Software was recognized as a Best and Brightest Company to Work For and a Top Place to Work in the Bay Area.
Prior to Saba Software, Shotwell held leadership positions at BigCommerce, Good Technology, Pacific Pulmonary Services, Taleo, and PeopleSoft. She was on the Board of Pleasanton Partners in Education and is currently on the advisory board of Best and Brightest Companies to Work For, WorkTribe Dynamics, and Agile Literacy.
"I'm thrilled that Debbie is joining our leadership team to help scale Stack Overflow to its next phase of growth,” said Prashanth Chandrasekar, CEO of Stack Overflow. “Debbie is a talented and highly experienced people leader who knows how to develop, foster, and maintain a values-based company culture while rapidly scaling the organization. Her extensive and diverse experience at other leading technology companies will enable us to recruit and onboard exceptional new talent, to continue to develop existing Stackers, and to empower the organization to reach its high growth goals.”
“Throughout my career in the technology sector, I have been impressed by how beloved Stack Overflow has been by developers and technologists,” said Shotwell. “I am excited to bring my experience to Stack Overflow, to help them act on their ambitious and compelling mission and to accelerate their plans for exponential growth. I look forward to learning from the rich company culture that already exists and building and scaling its people programs in order to help the company live up to its incredible potential.”
Shotwell’s hire comes on the heels of Stack Overflow raising $85 million in series E financing to accelerate the company’s SaaS knowledge management and collaboration offering, Stack Overflow for Teams. A collaboration platform for developers and technologists to break down silos and work asynchronously to ship products faster, accelerate onboarding, improve customer experience and drive innovation, Stack Overflow for Teams is used by thousands of companies including Bloomberg, Box, Elastic, Expensify, Microsoft, and Zapier. The financing brings Stack Overflow to a total of $153 million raised.
