CRANBURY, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--CURE Media Group is pleased to announce that professional athlete, entrepreneur, motivational speaker, author and advocate for childhood cancer awareness, Devon Still will be the keynote speaker for the eighth annual MPN Heroes® recognition event. This year’s virtual celebration will take place Friday, Dec. 4, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. CST.
“We are truly delighted that Devon Still will join us to deliver the keynote address at this year’s MPN Heroes® recognition ceremony,” said Mike Hennessy Jr., president and CEO of MJH Life Sciences™, the parent company of CURE Media Group. “He is not only an incredible American football player, but has dedicated his time and efforts to raise awareness to help other families affected by childhood cancers. Still and his daughter’s journey of strength is such an inspiration to cancer patients and survivors around the globe, and we admire his commitment to never give up the fight.”
Still is a former defensive end. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Bengals in the second round of the 2012 NFL Draft. He played college football at Penn State University, where he earned consensus All-American honors. He was also a member of the Houston Texans and the New York Jets. More importantly, Still helped his daughter, Leah Sari Still, publicly “beat up cancer” and embarked on a pediatric cancer-fighting journey.
In June 2014, his daughter, Leah Sari Still, was diagnosed with Stage 4 neuroblastoma at the age of 4, just two months after Still almost died from blood clots in his lungs following back surgery. Still miraculously returned to the football field wearing Leah’s message of hope during every game. Their fight impacted and inspired millions around the world. On March 25, 2015, Still announced that Leah was in remission. Now, through the Still Strong Foundation, his partnership with socially conscious organizations has raised more than $2 million to provide assistance to other families whose children are battling cancer and is influencing the global cancer conversation.
