AUSTIN, Texas--(BUSINESS WIRE)--uShip, the logistics technology platform for large and bulky goods, today announced an agreement to provide less-than-truckload (LTL) freight services to GovPlanet® government surplus online auctions.
Through uShip, items sold by state, local, and federal agencies, including military, during GovPlanet’s weekly auctions get multiple shipping quotes instantly from top national LTL carriers, including FedEx Freight®, YRC Freight®, and Central Transport®.
The logistics integration with GovPlanet.com saves buyers time and hassle by eliminating the need to call carriers for rates, streamlining the Bill of Lading process, and centralizing shipment management.
GovPlanet is owned by Ritchie Bros., a leading asset management and disposition company and a strategic partner of uShip since 2009.
Best Quarter in Company History
uShip also reported today that two key components of its business shipping platform — LTL and In-Home Delivery — drove uShip’s best core-segment quarter (Q3 2020) in the company’s 16-year history. Each month more than 4,100 new businesses register on uShip.
uShip’s less-than-truckload platform, which gives small and medium businesses access to direct quotes from among 30+ of the freight industry’s top national and regional LTL carriers, has seen a 30 percent year-over-year increase in revenue.
uShip’s In-Home Delivery platform, which serves online sellers of large and bulky goods ranging from furniture to kayaks to e-bikes, saw 67 percent year-over-year booking growth as e-commerce has continued its explosive growth during the pandemic. Year-over-year Q3 revenue jumped 47 percent.
uShip counts Etsy, Chairish, Vibe Kayaks, and many others among its large and bulky e-commerce partners.
uShip’s Etsy partnership, which includes shipment tracking integration powered by AfterShip, is further contributing to growth. Year-over-year Q3 booking growth skyrocketed 481 percent as Etsy sellers use the uShip platform to transport their one-of-a-kind large and bulky items, including handmade farm tables, vintage furniture, and other custom items.
“We’ve seen a tremendous confluence of factors contributing to what was a record quarter for uShip,” said Kris Lamb, CEO of uShip. “E-commerce is absolutely booming, truck capacity is very tight, and partnerships like GovPlanet, Etsy, Chairish, and others are hitting their stride. We’re well-positioned for a strong holiday season and to hit the ground running in 2021.”
