Carnegie Learning Math Solution Elevates Student Scores and Success at Jubilee Academies in Kingsville, Texas

Carnegie Learning’s research-proven solution has also been made available to the entire state of Texas through the Texas Home Learning 3.0 Initiative

PITTSBURGH--()--Carnegie Learning is proud to announce that the Kingsville campus of Jubilee Academies—a renowned charter-school system serving many communities in South Texas—has seen significant improvements in student scores since its adoption of the Carnegie Learning Middle School Math Solution in 2017. By 2019, students using the solution had achieved a success rate of 92% on the state’s standardized STAAR test—an increase of 24% in just two years.

The students also achieved 100% on 2019 end-of-course assessments, with math scores outperforming reading scores for the first time and leading every other school in the district. Steven M. Solis, Associate Director at Jubilee Academies, says, “Before Carnegie Learning, we had struggles. This program has really helped us—we’ve seen a turnaround in our students, and we’ve seen a turnaround in our scores.”

A Proven Approach to Learning

The blended solution used at Jubilee Academies-Kingsville features Carnegie Learning’s award-winning MATHia® software and consumable textbooks. A Carnegie Learning Master Math Practitioner also provides training, classroom support and feedback to teachers to help ensure success. Students receive in-class group instruction using the textbooks and work individually on the MATHia software for 65 minutes a day. Since implementing the Carnegie Learning Math Solution, Jubilee-Kingsville math teachers have observed an increase in student participation, the desire to take ownership of their learning, and the overall engagement and love for math.

Carnegie Learning’s blended approach to learning enables students to:

  • Engage with real-world math examples.
  • Develop skills through both group and independent learning opportunities, including 1-to-1 support.
  • Demonstrate progress, with continuous adjustments to accommodate each student’s needs.

This research-proven approach adapts easily to in-school, at-home and hybrid learning models, offering the personalized flexibility needed in the current education environment. In fact, the Texas Education Agency recently announced Carnegie Learning as the chosen 6-12 math partner for the Texas Home Learning 3.0 initiative, making its resources available to millions of Texas public school students.

“Jubilee believes in children first, and we applaud Jubilee-Kingsville’s commitment to student success, particularly in using MATHia every day to give them personalized learning experiences based on their specific needs,” says Anella Wetter, Regional Vice President at Carnegie Learning. “In turn, the students have developed their mathematical knowledge, as evidenced by their outstanding achievement—creating possibility and potential for their futures.”

“This is not a vendor partnership. This is a family partnership. We’ve had really good support from the onset,” says Daniel Amador, Chief Academic Officer for Jubilee Academies. “We have a strong math team with top scores in our district. It validates what you can do when you implement the Carnegie Learning program with fidelity.”
