WILMINGTON, Del.--()--Following Friday’s episode of harassment and intimidation of a Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware contractor driving a mobile billboard truck exposing the lack of diversity on the Delaware Chancery Court that required him to call the Delaware State Police, Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware campaign manager Chris Coffey released the following statement:

“It’s sad to think that Delaware’s elite feel so threatened by the glaring inequities in the judicial system that they would spend hours intimidating the driver of a billboard that simply states the facts. As a grassroots organization, we pride ourselves on our commitment to calling out the injustice and corruption that thrive in Delaware’s courts and governments, even if it makes those who benefit from the status quo uncomfortable.”

“Clearly, we are succeeding in that mission. Friday’s episode outside the Wilmington Country Club goes to show that, when exposed, those in power in Delaware would rather try to silence criticism than address why it exists in the first place. Instead of intimidating a mobile truck driver, why wouldn’t Delaware’s ruling class spend time trying to address the gross injustice that 60% of Delaware’s prison population consists of people of color while people of color make up only 15% of the State’s top courts? It’s clearly because they would rather maintain their power and privilege than do the hard work of making Delaware’s justice system more equitable and diverse.”

“Until those changes are made, we will be relentless in our mission to expose injustice and challenge the status quo.”

Citizens for a Pro-Business Delaware is a group made up of more than 5,000 members including employees of the global translation services company TransPerfect, as well as concerned Delaware residents, business executives and others. They formed in April of 2016 to focus on raising awareness with Delaware residents, elected officials, and other stakeholders about the unprecedented forced sale of TransPerfect. While their primary goal of saving the company has been accomplished, they continue their efforts to fight for more transparency in the Delaware Chancery Court.
