NASHVILLE, Tenn.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Covenant Physician Partners (Covenant) today announced two executive appointments in the first half of 2020. Chad Baldwin has joined the company as Executive Vice President and Chief Development Officer and Phyllis Smith, DNP, has joined the company as Senior Vice President and Chief Clinical Officer.

Chad Baldwin, CPA
Baldwin joins Covenant from U.S. Urology Partners where he served as Chief Development Officer, overseeing expansion strategy for the company. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Hospital Operations at Surgery Partners, providing leadership for two integrated health systems in Lubbock, Texas and Houma, La. Both were complex systems with a hospital, multiple physician practices, ambulatory surgery centers and other ancillary services. Baldwin, who will serve on the company’s Executive Leadership Team, is a Certified Public Accountant with the State of Tennessee. He earned his Master of Accountancy and Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville.
Phyllis Smith, DNP
Smith joins Covenant from Walgreens Healthcare clinics where she oversaw strategy of Clinical Programs and Information Technology. In her new role, Smith will oversee the creation and execution of the company’s clinical strategy. She will serve on both the company’s Executive Leadership Team and National Practice Board. She is a senior strategic and operations leaders with extensive experience in managing financial, clinical and business operations across multiple health systems forums. In addition to her corporate experience, Smith is also a practicing family nurse practitioner and a visiting professor at Chamberlain University.
Smith holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice from the University of Alabama, Birmingham; a Masters of Business Administration from California Coast University; and Master and Bachelor of Science degrees from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She serves on a variety of boards for organizational and community improvement projects and is an active member and Council Member of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.
