Boutique Marketplace Jane Names Retail Veteran Taleeb Noormohamed Chief Executive Officer Amid Unprecedented Growth During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Former Casaza and Farfetch Executive Joins as Utah Company Pivots from Daily Deals to Curated Marketplace

LEHI, Utah--()--Jane, a curated boutique marketplace offering 400+ daily deals, today announced the recent appointment of retail veteran Taleeb Noormohamed as Chief Executive Officer. The co-founder of home goods marketplace Casaza, which he has led as its President and COO from its inception to a successful fundraising round, Noormohamed is a storied retail executive experienced in leading the growth and expansion strategies for innovative marketplaces. His hiring marks a new era for Jane, which since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, has experienced up to 150% year over year growth.

“While other marketplaces focus on the commoditization of the customer, Jane has been able to build an incredibly loyal following by offering a shopping experience that puts customers first - providing them thoughtfully curated products at a competitive price,” said Noormohamed. “The retail industry as a whole has seen a seismic shift over the last few years as customer expectations continue to rise, and the pressure on the brand-consumer relationship to succeed has only rapidly increased over the past few weeks. Keeping our customers – both the buyer and the seller – at the heart of the Jane experience has been critical to our growth, and I’m proud to join a company that has paved the way in empowering and giving small businesses and entrepreneurs a meaningful opportunity to grow and succeed.”

Previously, Noormohamed served as the Chief Growth Officer of luxury fashion marketplace Farfetch. During his tenure, he orchestrated the company’s global expansion, ran its international markets, and launched a number of new lines of business. He also served as Vice President, Global Business Development for home rental platform HomeAway (now Vrbo), where he was instrumental in orchestrating a number of key deals, including HomeAway’s partnership with Expedia, which led to the eventual acquisition of HomeAway in 2015.

“Jane has spent years building a loyal user base and has experienced skyrocketing growth since its launch in 2011,” said Mike McEwan, co-founder and Executive Chairman of Jane. “Taleeb’s extensive growth and marketplace experience will be invaluable as we enter into the next phase of Jane. We are honored to welcome him to the team.”

Megan McEwan, co-founder, added, “Taleeb is the type of values-based leader that really understands our customers and our sellers - and we can’t wait to see Jane’s story continue under his leadership.”

A go-to source for women’s fashion, accessories, home, kids and baby, and more, Jane is one of the rare online marketplaces thriving in the age of Amazon, with nearly 1.5 million active users. Jane continues to actively support its community during the COVID-19 pandemic, from donating 10,000 surgical masks to the Utah Department of Health to enabling sellers to offer cloth masks for purchase. To date, Jane has sold more than one million cloth masks and is donating a portion of the proceeds for every mask sold to help fight COVID-19.

“As we move into our next decade, we want to extend our ability to deliver a high-quality customer experience, and as we embrace our marketplace roots, I’m looking forward to us diversifying our supply, building our brand, and ensuring our product is world-class,” added Noormohamed. “My goal is to establish Jane as the place the stylish, budget-conscious shopper goes to discover new products and shop - every day of the year.”

For the last six years, the Utah-based company has been named to Inc. Magazine’s list of the 5000 fastest-growing privately held companies in the U.S., and continues to grow at a staggering rate. Jane’s dedication to supporting both employees, sellers and consumers is behind the company’s massive growth in recent months. The company has experienced record-breaking numbers, with daily and monthly sales outpacing every other holiday in the e-tailer’s nine year history, including Black Friday. Jane grew its customer base by more than 80% in the first six months of 2020, and on average, attracts more than four and half million unique monthly visitors.
