ANAHEIM, Calif. & NORFOLK, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--In support of Southern California youth, Unite Health Share Ministries (UHSM) – a faith-based health care nonprofit founded on Christian beliefs and values – today announced their partnership with Pure Game, a nonprofit organization that integrates character education curriculum and leadership coaching through sport into schools. UHSM is funding Pure Game to visit dozens of faith-based and at-risk youth schools in Orange County.
“Our mission is to help Christian families maintain their holistic health and well-being, and our Pure Game partnership demonstrates our commitment to support healthy families,” said Christopher Jin, president of UHSM. “We’re excited to add Pure Game to the exciting list of charitable and faith-based organizations that share our faith, principles, and convictions.”
The program’s goal is to encourage physical activity, incentivize attendance, introduce life skills, build character and help kids create a positive self-image. Pure Game has already successfully delivered its character-building program to thousands of students at Orange County elementary, middle and high schools as part of Pure Game’s current curriculum.
“When applied correctly, sports activities can strengthen people’s ability to engage at a higher level, open creative pathways and connect with team members more openly,” said Tony Everett, founder and chief play maker of Pure Game. “We’re truly grateful to have the backing of a reputable organization, like UHSM.”
In addition to funding Pure Game’s program to more than 50 schools, UHSM has provided Telehealth for Essential Businesses to the Pure Game staff, adding an extra layer of security with on-demand health care. If any Pure Game field champion or administrative employee shows symptoms of COVID-19, UHSM Telehealth providers can triage each case, order COVID-19 testing and help patients through quarantine.
Along with the Pure Game partnership, UHSM has launched several community initiatives nationwide. UHSM teamed up with the Orange County Soccer Club (OCSC) to create the OCSC Community Corner, a season-long outreach program that provides nonprofit organizations tickets to share with the children and families they serve. UHSM also supports Cornbread Hustle, a staffing agency dedicated to second chances, to provide free disinfection to Dallas, Texas area churches, while providing their telehealth program to church staff and their families. The program is also being used by other essential organizations, including Orange County’s Second Harvest Food Bank.
