Ardent Health Services Names Martin Bonick President & CEO

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--()--Ardent Health Services has appointed Martin Bonick President and Chief Executive Officer, effective August 17, 2020. Bonick has nearly 25 years of leadership experience in the healthcare sector, including for-profit, non-profit, public and private companies.

As previously announced, David T. Vandewater, Ardent’s long-tenured President and CEO, has retired from the company. Ardent Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Paul Kappelman is serving as Interim President and CEO until Bonick joins the company.

Prior to joining Ardent, Bonick was CEO of PhyMed Healthcare Group, a national provider of anesthesia and pain management services. During his time at PhyMed, Marty was instrumental in driving substantial growth organically and through acquisitions. Prior to PhyMed, he served as a Division President at Community Health Systems where he led operations of 36 hospitals and associated clinics and outpatient centers across six states. Previously, he was Senior Vice President of Operations at Jewish Hospital & St. Mary’s Health System; President and CEO of Jewish Hospital; CEO of Oklahoma State University Medical Center; and VP of Operations at Hillcrest Medical Center, which is owned by Ardent. He holds a Master of Health Administration degree and a Master of Information Management degree from Washington University in St. Louis, and a Bachelor of Science degree in psychology from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
