BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--enaible, a leading provider of AI-powered productivity solutions, today announced the results of a survey that gauged executive viewpoints on workforce productivity in light of the economic and remote working impact of COVID-19. The survey and a full research brief titled, “COVID-19 Sounded the Productivity Wake-up Call,” highlight how corporate leaders are aggressively targeting employee productivity as a means to improve margins and profitability. However, despite saying they have a large focus on productivity, most executives admit they do not have the visibility needed to accurately and confidently measure productivity.
The survey polled 206 corporate executives across a wide range of industries, including 74% who hold c-level roles. In addition, 24 of the respondents are the CEO at an organization with more than 100,00 employees. Among the key findings:
- 83% of respondents are relying on productivity to improve margin and profitability
- 83% believe that worker productivity will be critical in their companies’ ability to recover from the economic impact of COVID-19
- 50% are not confident about the visibility they have into worker productivity at their company
- 5% use a standard, quantitative score to measure productivity across their company – and most either rely on instinct (32%) or don’t measure at all (19%)
“COVID-19 sounded the productivity wake up call, which was desperately needed. During this difficult time every company should make productivity their priority because the work from home environment that many companies have been thrust into is completely uncharted territory. It needs urgent attention, not only to improve margins but job growth. Maximum prosperity can exist only as the result of maximum productivity,” said Dr. Tommy Weir, CEO and founder of enaible. “Remote work created a challenge that companies were not ready for. But the even bigger challenge that magnifies this new reality is that leaders lack visibility and a reliable way to measure productivity. This raises a lot of questions – how are so many executives relying so heavily on something they can’t see or measure?”
In addition to gauging executives’ views about the role productivity is playing at their organization, the survey also explored the top concerns leaders have about remote work environments. Companies represented in the survey have all had a wide margin of employees working from home. In fact, 85% of respondents had more than 4 out of 5 people working remotely at the highest point before answering the survey. Leaders voiced a wide range of concerns about this environment:
- 84% are concerned about the ability of managers to manage remotely
- 81% are concerned about a decrease in employee morale
- 76% are concerned about a false read on productivity
- 75% are concerned about home/life distractions
- 74% are concerned about a lack of visibility on employees
With these concerns and others on the top of executives’ minds, most believe that technology, specifically artificial intelligence (AI), will play a large role in helping to advance productivity at their organization. More than two-third (65%) of respondents say their company is considering investments in technology to improve productivity and nearly every respondent (95%) believes that AI will play a critical role driving future productivity.
