Utah Department of Transportation Launches Redesigned Website

Redesign focuses on flexibility for UDOT’s changing needs

SALT LAKE CITY--()--The Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) has announced the redesign of its website. UDOT.utah.gov is a resource for the public looking for road condition and state road construction information. The site also provides access to the necessary tools businesses in the transportation industry and communities rely on to keep Utah moving.

The site was redesigned to provide useful information to residents, businesses and local governments of Utah and to help enhance transportation in the state. UDOT and NIC Utah spent months doing user surveys and analysis to inform the decisions made.

“We went through a lot of work to see how we could help shape the site and information to better suit those who need it most,” said Carlos M. Braceras, Director of the Utah Department of Transportation. “The redesign allows Utahns to access the transportation information they need when and where they need to.”

Having a flexible design that allows for posting new and changing information was a top priority for UDOT. The redesigned site enables UDOT to quickly update information and change the site based on seasonal needs. The site is also mobile responsive across various devices and accessible to screen readers and other accessibility tools.

“The new site design offers us the kind of flexibility we need to serve Utahns,” said Braceras. “We also made a document library search so they could link to internal and external documents with titles and keywords for users (public and business) to find more easily. We can add alert banners across the entire site and create calendar events to highlight upcoming events, construction or other issues.”
