SANTA CLARA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sunil Gavaskar, Legendary Indian Cricketer and Chairman, Board of Governors, Heart to Heart Foundation (H2H Foundation), has scored a century in partnership with Asha Jadeja. Jadeja, a veteran Silicon Valley based entrepreneur and philanthropist, has sponsored 100 lifesaving heart surgeries for children in India. These life-giving and life-changing surgeries will be performed by the Sri Sathya Sai Sanjeevani hospitals in India. “It’s a great partnership to support free heart surgeries for children in India and we are very thankful for the participation of Asha Jadeja,” said Mr. Gavaskar.
The absence of sophisticated pediatric care and financial constraints faced by economically challenged families result in over 250 children dying every day in India due to Congenital Heart Defects (CHD). H2H Foundation in partnership with the Sai Sanjeevani hospitals in Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh and Haryana have performed over 12,000 surgeries and catheter interventions since 2012. “It is a great honour to partner with Sunil Gavaskar and H2H Foundation to support free heart surgeries for children in India and I will also request others in the USA to participate in saving more children," said Ms. Asha Jadeja. Jadeja is the founder of Motwani Jadeja Foundation and is a Silicon Valley based Venture Capitalist, Entrepreneur, Philanthropist, and is championing “exponential change” through technology and education initiatives around the world.
“There are over 37,000 children waiting for a free heart surgery over the next two years. We are targeting to support 5,000 free heart surgeries this year, increasing each year thereafter,” said Mr. Arvind Thiagarajan, Founding Trustee & Director of H2H Foundation. Costs for the surgeries and other programs needed would run into several millions of dollars each year. To help meet this urgent need the H2H Foundation launched the “Freedom from CHD” initiative on India’s Independence Day in 2019. This initiative is designed to spread awareness and increase participation for heart surgeries in India through events and programmes. The initiative started with a 2019 10 city USA tour entitled “Batting-for-Life” and was followed by online interactive events in 2020 involving Heart to Heart conversations with the cricketing legend Sunil Gavaskar. Join H2H Foundation and Mr. Sunil Gavaskar to participate in helping children and in building a strong and healthy nation!
